Megyn Kelly: Trump and First Amendment 'not a beautiful match'

Megyn Kelly: Trump and First Amendment 'not a beautiful match' © Getty Fox News host Megyn Kelly criticized Donald Trump’s use of Twitter and warned of the potential "de-legitimization” of the media under the president-elect in a Wednesday interview with NPR’s "Fresh Air."

Kelly, who was the target of many social media attacks during the campaign, said Trump might not be aware “that every tweet he unleashes against you ... creates such a crescendo of anger and, in my case again, threatening behavior.” The reporter cited "thousands of tweets" directed at her as an example — threats to "beat the hell out of me, to rape me, honestly the ugliest things you can imagine."

On Monday night at an event in Washington, the journalist blamed members of Trump's team for encouraging some of the hate online.

But the host of “The Kelly File” said she was determined not to let Trump’s behavior and the resulting threats impact her coverage.

“We were not going to change our coverage of him just because my life was being threatened,” she said in Wednesday's interview. “It was a challenge because I didn’t want to hit him too hard as retribution for what was happening and I didn’t want to go too soft on him out of fear.”

Kelly said that if Trump continues to tweet as president, he needs "to be aware of the power he has when he releases these tweets.”

She also called Trump’s relationship with the First Amendment “not a beautiful match” and said she’s worried for the press under a president Trump.

“The people, as much as it’s fun to hate us, they do need us. They need good, strong, skeptical journalists to be covering whoever it is — whether it’s Barack Obama or President Donald Trump,”

Millions Less

DECEMBER 2, 2016

woman-money

[Blind Gossip] She is the star of a popular TV show. She is making noises about leaving.

However, according to someone close to the situation, she has absolutely no intention of leaving! All this talk about jumping networks is just a negotiating ploy.

Does anyone actually believe that she would leave a job paying millions more money at a top network to take a job making millions less at a failing network? LOL! Her team is trying to make it seem like everyone wants her and that this is a very competitive negotiation. They don’t, and it’s not. In fact, given that she isn’t attracting that much interest anywhere else, [her current network’s] execs are now talking about how they can LOWER their original offer!

Oh? Free speech for thee and not for me is it? What, my rights would end at your feelings? Okay for your lying media to say whatever it wants without recourse?

“The people, as much as it’s fun to hate us, they do need us.

I must have missed when that happened. Then again my ears are all full of tinnitus from the constant squeal of butt kissing the media has applied to homo's backside these past eight years.

She is upset because the very stature and celebrity of the media is crumbling, and having alternative means of transmitting news and mass communication outside the media have loosened their grip on what the public hears. For many years, they could say what they wanted, call people ‘Nazis’, try to (and often succeed) in influencing elections, and suppress the opinions of a great number of Americans who have felt unrepresented and voiceless. Trump’s approach has expanded and restored free speech, not suppressed it.

The strumpet is probably thinking about another spread in GQ or somewhere to show her ass gain - except for a Lezzie magazine this time. Screw her.

Well, what would be said here if a Democrat President-elect were tweeting and saying similar things against conservative media? Towards sites such as FR? Accusing them and us of lying, and and trying to marginalize us?

Somehow, I don’t think we would be just saying, oh well....

The President is imbued with massive power, and should be a bit circumspect in the use and application of such power and influence.

The potential "de-legitimization” of the media is a self-inflicted wound, Me-gyn.
