Ukraine's Antonov aircraft maker suggested US President-elect Donald Trump should order Air Force One from Ukraine, a message on the official Twitter page of the company said, TASS reports.
"Maybe it would be better to consider an Antonov aircraft as Air Force One?" the tweet said.
The state-run Antonov aircraft building plant is Ukraine's only developer and manufacturer of cargo and passenger aircraft. The company is best known for such aircraft as AN-32, AN-148, AN-158, AN-74, AN-124, AN-70 and AN-225. The company did not specify which aircraft exactly they would like to propose to the new President of the United States.
Noteworthy, Ukrainian President Pedro Poroshenko flies an AN-148 as the presidential airliner that he chose in early 2015.
In 2016, however, the company has not produced one single aircraft. The company plans to hold an official ceremony to unveil the new AN-132 cargo aircraft in December.
Donald Trump urged Boeing to cancel the construction of the new presidential plane due to the high cost of the aircraft.
"Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order!" Trump said on Twitter.
However, White House spokesman Earnest said that Donald Trump's tweet was inaccurate. Boeing representatives said that the costs for the development of Air Force One would make up $170 million.

President Trump, Ukraine not only offers you fine Antonov aircraft for Air Force One, we also offer you pilot. See? Here is pilot. Her name is Peggy.
Can they have it pounded out to look like an Imperial Star Destroyer?
That’d be sweet!
I know Boeing builds the ‘Air Force One’ and a lot of the parts are made else where, but I think since President Trump is ‘America First’, the plane should be built in ‘America’....
Lets loan Russia a decent operational aircraft carrier.
The order is for up to THREE new planes. I think the cost of Obama’s helicopter fleet was deemed out of line, too.
If Trump is using his own plane, does he get escorts?
Wow, the startup procedure is insane.
And for occasional overseas flights...a suitable Boeing,...the Star Wars version:
Does Trump trust Ukraine? Think Soros.
Soros is Hungarian.
He practically owns Ukraine.
We need something even more over-the-top, nay, Yuuuuuge, than even an An-224. Maybe Trump can have a B-52 redone as the next AF-1? Wouldn’t that be a way to get a recalcitrant nation’s attention when arriving for negotiations.
After toggling 15 switches, pumping two pumps, moving the throttle up and down several times, the engine starts and the pilot is rewarded with plumb of smoke rising from the bottom of the cockpit. Using the air hand brake which vents into the cockpit the pilot turns the vibrating plane toward the runway.
How about an An-225 Mriya. After all, it is the largest aircraft in the world...
Inspires total confidence, doesn’t it?
Indeed! And that was only the first half of the video ...
Thanks for posting this. I have been laughing so hard, I spilled my coffee all over my desk.
