Actor's Take on Kennedy at Chappaquiddick - 'Ted Had a Rough Night'
newsbusters.org ^ | 12/14/2016 | Jack Coleman

Posted on 12/14/2016 7:34:00 AM PST by rktman

Daily Beast reporter Liza Foreman tells readers in her lede that she was "not all that familiar" with Chappaquiddick, the remote island where Kennedy drove off a bridge late at night with a young woman who drowned in the car while Kennedy escaped.

Kennedy failed to report the accident until the next morning and was later given a suspended sentence for leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The death of 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne, a campaign worker to Kennedy's late brother Robert, shadowed Ted Kennedy for the rest of his life and arguably kept him from ever winning the presidency.

Albeit without leaving someone to perish in his car while he sobered up, but I digress. Back to Clarke on the accident itself --

"It was a critical night," he added. "It was a really long night for Ted and a long day. I mean we start off from Washington, then Martha's Vineyard for the boat race. There is the beach, then the boat race, then the whole party, and then the accident, and then the whole night to the next morning. So it was a long night for Ted. Ted had a rough night."

Awwww. Poor teddy. But, he gone and there's a whole lot of folks don't know who he was let alone the whole Chappaquiddick incident. Did he slide? Bet your ass he did. Not that money and political influence had anything to do with it. It was all Mary Jo's fault.

Kennedy failed to report the accident until the next morning and was later given a suspended sentence for leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

*************

Another good example of the liberal elites getting special treatment from the law. Anyone else leaving the scene of an accident would have been held to account.

I’ll never forget, in 1988 or so, Rush Limbaugh honoring influential women in US politics.

Of course, Mary Jo Kopechne was at the top of the list.

Probably for good reason.

Name a more influential female. Teddy would have been President in 1976 0r 1980 rather than Reagan? Cold War extended, or becomes hot?

"So it was a long night for Ted. Ted had a rough night."

It was even a rougher night for Mary Jo Kopechne.

I was going to say, it may have not been Mary Joe’s best evening either. And the locals saying “thought they would never leave” .

Karma’s a b*tch and I think Kennedy’s finally caught up with him. Slow death by malignant brain tumor is often the fate of powerful people known to have abused those beneath them on the pecking order.

All that money and influence and it becomes worthless as life inexorably ebbs away and there’s naught the dying reprobate can do about it as he watches the gates of Hell swing open before him.

Is this the origin of the insider/political word for murder - “wetworks?”

Out of that episode and the subsequent cover-up came the expression, "as phony as a Chappaquiddick neck brace."

All the power, all the money, all of everything that is worldly never goes with us when we die...it's all left behind, so why lie, steal, cheat, kill for it?

And the woman sure did as well - knowing she was going to drown ... Ted was a coward and a hypocrite all his miserable life.

I am a Massachusetts resident, and his stain over the years on this state was far more damning than that of Frank, Kerry, Studds, Warren, and Markey all rolled together.

ALL of them.

He was a disgusting, reprehensible coward with not a single redeeming factor.
