War on Christmas: Atheists Threaten to Sue Ohio Town for Nativity Scene
Breitbart ^ | 18 Dec 2016 | Ken Klukowski

Posted on 12/19/2016 5:13:01 AM PST by detective

Militant atheists at the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) are threatening to sue St. Bernard, Ohio, over the city’s Nativity scene — a Christmas display depicting the scene of Jesus’s birth in Bethlehem in the Holy Land. If FFRF follows through and files in federal court, that case could result in a historic restoration of religious liberty nationwide.

St. Bernard is a suburb of Cincinnati. For many years, the city has displayed a crèche — i.e., a Nativity scene — during the Christmas season. It is accompanied by non-biblical seasonal holiday displays as well, making this outdoor crèche similar to the one the Supreme Court upheld in its 1984 case Lynch v. Donnelly.

Another attack on Christmas.

Jesus predicted the attacks on Him.
All it does is strengthen resolve from those of us who believe in Him. It might even bring in converts.

Wouldn’t it be unfortunate if a group of people converged on the FFRF building in Madison, Wisconsin and gave them a taste of their own medicine?

He will do that simply by appointing Constitutional Justices.

I wish they’d get shipped off to a Muslim country and see how it feels to be REALLY persecuted, instead of getting butthurt about depictions of Baby Jesus.

We have a crèche in my town that doesn't have all the politically-correct nonsense around it. There's even one in New York City's Central Park, of all places.

The important thing for the folks in these places to do is get the crèche away from your municipal building and put it in a park instead. A crèche in front of a government building implies government sponsorship, while a crèche in a park or similar public space is protected under the First Amendment.

There's a point raised in the Breitbart article that adds an interesting wrinkle to this issue. Apparently Justice Scalia came down on the "liberal" side of a similar case before the Supreme Court.

I tend to agree with his rationale on this. A government building is no place for a religious exhibit in this country. It's perfectly acceptable for private organizations to sponsor religious exhibits in public spaces, on the other hand.

I have a friend who’s mayor of a small town. This year, they authorized the placement of a Nativity scene. I think they also have a menorah.

I sent him some information on the communist criminal who started Kwaanza. He’s going to pull that out and give to anyone who yells at him to add Kwaanza stuff.

Four justices dissented in Allegheny, with moderate Justice Anthony Kennedy writing the dissent.

How could four judges dissent if it was a six to three decision?

We can thank Scotus for driving Christianity from the public square.

Our nation will never be out of danger until Scotus is rendered institutionally subservient to the Constitution.

__________+ + +__________

However, the lack of religious symbols in front of a government building during a time of seasonal devotions implies that the government sponsors atheism, one may surmise.
