An American citizen spearheading the California secessionist movement said he’ll open an embassy in Moscow this weekend as his separatist campaign looks toward Russia for recognition.Louis Marinelli, the president of the Yes California Independence Campaign, plans to open the doors Sunday to the Golden State’s first ever “embassy” in none other than the Russian capital.Mr. Marinelli, 30, has been one of the most vocal proponents in recent years of the grassroots movement dedicated towards gaining California’s independence from the United States. He’s orchestrated that campaign from abroad since at least September, however, when he relocated from San Diego to Siberia to be with his Russian wife, KQED recently reported.

This should give added validity to the State of Jefferson. To me that sounds like a good thing to come out of this.

This guy has a screw loose.

He isn’t an official of California.

He doesn’t have any measure of success.

The media loves to feed on this, and so do some other folks, but I remain unconvinced this goes very far.

So far all we’ve got is a whack-job and a bunch of gullible people buying off on his idiocy.

People keep laughing about this as if it’s all a joke. IT’S NOT A JOKE. This is going to turn into a real movement. No state can take in millions and millions of illegals from a foreign nation(s) and not be effected by it. California WILL see the birth of a REAL secessionist movement and it’s going to lead to serious violence if this garbage is not ended soon.

“but I remain unconvinced this goes very far.”

That’s what they said about brexit a few years ago.

Can they have a ballot initiative calling for independence in CA?

I have predicted illegal immigration would lead to this at some point. That being said, this is nonsense.

The guy barely brought up the subject and it was covered as if he was the president of separatist California already.

In time we’ll see if he gets enough signatures. I don’t think he’s even collecting them yet.

Then we’ll see how many folks actually vote for it.

I’m not convinced this is anything more than a bad case of too many beans for dinner.

“it’s going to lead to serious violence”

No, it won’t. If they want to go, I don’t see anybody willing to employ violence to make them stay.

Maybe an expulsion petition would gain more signatures.

I'll sign.

Marinelli is a Putin puppet. This is Russia trying do to us what it did to Ukraine: gin-up a phony secession movement to undermine an enemy country.

A quarter of California energy comes from outside the state - should be interesting how they handle that when they secede... which I think would be good for everyone concerned.

I wonder if our war dead, buried in California, would appreciate your cavalier attitude toward giving away sovereign territory of the country they fought and died for?

“Maybe an expulsion petition would gain more signatures. I’ll sign.”

Don’t be so narrow minded. There are still a lot of decent Americans living in that state. We ought to be looking for ways to help them reclaim that territory from the traitorous, leftist filth.

No federal funding or assistance to CA at all. They say the guy has lived in Russia for a pretty good period of his life so there might be more to the guy than we know. He looks like a premier Millenial a$$hole though:
