The Warthog is long out of production, the tooling was destroyed by order of Congress and the company that made it is long gone. We just paid Boeing a bunch of money to make new wings for it but that’s all we can currently do.

I’d go a bit further...career politicians are clueless. No career politician would understand anything beyond fund-raising, extortion and graft...they’d give the money whatever the money wanted...for a cut for themselves.
Career politicians are a scourge on this country.
That's exactly what the defense industry and a lot of others have been doing to all of us ever since Barry walked his limp wrist and love of being reamed out into the White Hut.
Lockheed merely exploits the government’s own fumbling when it comes to contracts.
Engineering changes that come late to the program, scope changes, program re-baselining, requirements revision etc are the things that drive up costs and they know it.
The USAF program people know it too but do it anyway.
Once Trump understands that system - and he will, quickly - he can move aggressively to cut it off.
And Hewson will have no where to go with that except delivery on schedule, instead of decades and billions of dollars later.
Which will be good for Lockheed and the country in the end.

Have them hire this guy first. He designed and built that. Next gen ground supporting aircraft should have “superior” manuverability.
I am sure Trump wants a lower cost on the f35 but her statement is businesspeak and never actually says they are going to lower prices.
The f35 is already hundreds of billions over budget and years delayed. They can’t just ignore the fact they’ve already been paid hundreds of billions in overruns and delays. They aren’t going to put that towards more fighters for free.
I’m not quite sure that cheaper military hardware is the best thing for our military.
That didn’t take long.
Who would have thought that putting someone in charge who understands contracts would make the government more efficient?
Trump isn’t president as of today. Solong Obama , the worst ever President.
I get the sense that Trump is seriously enjoying himself making all these deals, and what’s more it looks like there’s no end of deals to be made.
The man must be thinking that he’s close to nirvana.
Well look at that - great news about the savings of taxpayer dollars spread wide and far....WITHOUT the help of the propaganda media.
I get the sense that he is having so much fun.
