The Obama administration Friday defended its abstention on a key United Nations resolution condemning Israel for West Bank settlements, with Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes saying that the continued activity threatened longstanding U.S. policy calling for a two-state solution in the region.

In another thread there was some predicting of what Obama's next Israel surprise might be. I posted there and post here again that my gut says "recognition of the "Palestinian" state. This article starts the murmurings but I just listened to an interview with an Israeli spokesman on Fox where they said that John Kerry will make a proposal soon at the UN for the creation of 2 states along the 1967 borders.

This will give Obama the ability to recognize diplomatically the new Palestinian state. If my reading is correct (http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Diplomatic+recognition) Obama can do this without congress.

Suppose he did that and a host of other nations immediately followed suit. POTUSe can't undo anything except for the US recognition but the international recognition would still be there.

I am still digesting this but the knee jerk reaction is to let the UN know that its lease expires on 1 Feb 2017 and they should start looking for new digs somewhere in Europe but maybe there are better answers/reaction/actions that could be taken. I'm all ears

I believe I read it here right after the election that the next couple of months may be the most dangerous in US History. I fear the prophetic nature of that post.

Why just Europe. Let them move to Zimbabwe if they want. It’s more their kind of country.

If a two state solution is forced on Israel they need to make it perfectly clear that an attack by a sovereign state, even newly formed, on Israel will result
in war.

Israel has the means to let those who try and impose a two state solution are not beyond the reach of Israeli weapons. The Middle East and select foreign cities could suffer the same fate.

The new Pali state would last 2-4 months, then attack Israel, then be “occupied “ again.

Exactly! It is a manufactured problem that doesn’t exist. The west bank was part of Jordan pre-67 and then after the war Jordan gave up all claims to it. It was never a “Palestinian” state, it was always the Jewish homeland that was taken first by the Romans and then by the Muslims.

Even before the recognition of the Israeli state the region called Palestine was the Jewish homeland (http://drrichswier.com/2014/11/16/flag-palestine-1939/)

Palestine was never a “people” but a region.

Two stage solution

1. Encourage Jordan to annex the west bank ( with money and other aid)

2. Encourage Egypt to re annex Gaza ( with money and Hamas extermination tools)

Trump can withdraw the recognition, and turn off the foreign aid payments. Let the other jackals who recognize this farce finance the new “country”. Then we can see how long this lasts.

Trump can withdraw the recognition, and turn off the foreign aid payments. Then put Obama/Kerry on No Fly List the first time they leave the US

i have a bad feeling that recognition is coming from the snake. so i assume Israel is weighing its options - recognition by I on its own terms to pre-empt, allowing recognition to happen then taking advantage of any act of war by P’s to launch a new war which resets the clock, annexation of territories presumed Israeli, etc. if we’re thinking about it, of course the Israeli strategists are. over 130 countries have already recognized P state. the thing is - which one? led by Abbas? led by Hamas? led by someone representing the many P’s in Jordan? i can see them fighting amongst themselves just to resolve that. prayers up for Israel. no way Jewish Quarter is Palestinian occupied territory or the Western Wall either. this is already war.

And the arab "Palestinians" were so vile they got kicked out of Jordan and elsewhere. The arabs have hundreds of times the land area as Israel but won't house the "refugees".
