Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich jabbed Russia for its vote Friday in the United Nations Security Council — a move that could reflect badly on President-elect Trump.
"So Russia having illegally occupied Crimea and eastern Ukraine votes to condemn Israel for 'occupied lands.' We are supposed to be impressed," the Trump adviser tweeted Saturday morning.
In a 14-0 vote on Friday, the U.N. Security Council condemned Israel for settlements in areas of the West Bank and East Jerusalem that Israel occupied during the Six-Day War of 1967. The Security Council is often critiqued for being anti-Israel.

Gingrich is absolutely correct. If Russia wanted better relations with the Trump administration, they should have used their veto and made Obama look like the fool that he is.
Russia has no business condemning Israel for occupying portions of what is historical Israel when Russia is, in fact, doing the same in the Ukraine and Crimea.
FWIW, I would expect that Obama will suggest that the United States quit building settlements in occupied Mexico.
Gingrich has a real “shoot from the lip” problem. Think back to that Hispanic judge who was biased against DJT, and Gingrich made statements that prolonged that issue.
Don’t think he’s ‘shooting from the hip’, but tweeting an accurate statement.

The UN vote is based on a false history of the area. There is no and never has been any “occupation” of Palestinian territory. The land in question was seized from a nascent Israeli state in 1948 ( by Jordan, Syria and Egypt) and reclaimed by Israel in 1967. But it is so much easier to go along with the prevailing fad — as nonsensical as it may be — than to stand up for what’s right.
Russia had a chance with this vote to distinguish itself from the usual mindless, anti-Israel herd. They would have scored points both with Israel and the US (once Trump takes over). They failed to do this. Is appeasing Arab states so ingrained that no freedom of action, no stand on principle is ever possible?
Russia took the spineless option here, going along with the mob.

Russia and Hungary are just about the only countries left in Europe that still support Christianity and Judaism. The rest of them are licking the boots of Muslims.
