One voice of reason and sanity now silent.

Yeah, I always got a kick out of those shows where Williams would be subbing and have his old friend Sowell call in. Sowell’s book The Quest for Cosmic Justice was formative for me when I read it 20 years ago.

When I read his and Walter Williams’ columns, it always saddens me to know that many of the people who could benefit from their wisdom, will never read a word of it.

When Sowell discussed his life growing up in Harlem with Walter Williams, it was VERY ENLIGHTENING (and yet another angle to a critical issue simply ignored by the media). This was BEFORE ‘civil rights’, which is universally accepted as a good thing.

Here are a few things he said:

1) Black families were INTACT, with two parents and kids that understood what was coming if they got out of line.

2) Black communities were doing very well, arguably THRIVING, as upwardly mobile blacks were forced to stay in their communities, and thus they kept them civilized and spent their money there, on black businesses.

3) Black academic achievement, while still behind whites, was clearly closing in. Whether they would have caught whites will never be known, but it all ended once the ‘civil rights’ riots and busing began.

4) There is NO WAY that Dr. Sowell would have escaped from what is now a hell-hole (Harlem) had he grown up after the ‘civil rights’ era.

While civil rights is a moral issue...one can reasonably argue that there may have been better ways to handle it.

Well, I’m a real conservative, and I’m not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Dr. Sowell may not be a Trump fan, but anyone who would reject his many years of wisdom because of that, isn’t thinking straight. The man is brilliant, and if I could do it over again, I would have started reading and applying his concepts when I was in college, instead of forty years later. Think what the last couple of generations could have been like, if they had followed him.

Imagine what a positive difference a role model like Dr. Sowell could have made instead of people like Barack and Moochie Obama sowing racial hate and distrust wherever they went.

Ask anyone outside of this forum if they know who Thomas Sowell is. Anyone. You will get a blank stare, and that is why I say he has been useless, and you can say that about almost any pundit or conservative thinker/speaker.

They have been great at selling us books and getting us organized to a point, but the only person who was able to bring people over from the other side and solidify the base, was Trump. He’s the only one that was able to defeat both parties and the media.

Think about it, we have had Rush and everyone else we listen to or read, fighting to sell us books and teach us how to sell conservatism. And look where we are? Our country is more socialist now than ever! We have been told to eat the Romney and McCain crap sandwiches by these people and the ratchet of socialism kept clicking.

We have had the Bushes and the Clintons pushing us into wars for decades and running up the debt and selling the country off to the highest bidders. Reagan was a flash in the pan, it’s almost as if he didn’t exist because his impact was erased by every globalist who succeeded him.

When I see Milo fighting off protesters while speaking at a university, and he’s not even American! Or Dinesh doing the same, or Crowder, I see 3 guys connecting with people and shutting down socialist professors and exposing the radical leftists in universities. These people are taking back our media and universities inch by inch. They are not eloquent like Sowell but they are effective.

One can hope that every now and then he’ll write a piece just for the fun of it... it’s painful to think he’s going to stop altogether...

Maybe he's ready to become an economic advisor to President Trump. New career!

The big problem was Trump bashers after the primary, when the choice was either him or Hillary. I have no idea if Dr. Sowell fit into that category, but once we were down to two and someone of our side wasn’t on board, that means they were okay with the devil (just to be clear, I was on board after hearing Trump’s announcement speech).

I believe that Sowell has been an interview guest while Williams subbed for Rush. The hour was an intellectual feast.
