Obama boosted White House technology; Trump sees risks

As Barack Obama began preparing to leave office, the first smartphone-toting U.S. president ordered his team to upgrade the White House’s aging technology for his successor. New computers were purchased and faster internet was installed.

Not included in the modernization plans? A courier service.

But that delivery method of a bygone era may be in for a comeback under Donald Trump. Despite his voracious use of Twitter, the president-elect appears to be leaning toward old tech to ensure the security of sensitive messages.

“It’s very important, if you have something really important, write it out and have it delivered by courier, the old-fashioned way, because I’ll tell you what: no computer is safe,” Trump told reporters Saturday in response to questions about Russia’s alleged hacking of Democrats during the presidential election. Trump, who doesn’t email or surf the internet, said days earlier that computers “have complicated lives very greatly.” …

Wow; now the fakenews merchants are trying to portray Trump as a Luddite. And they complain about “Russian hackers” in their other narrative. So much for keeping one’s lies straight.

I’m still waiting for them to bash the Bundesnachrichtendienst (Germany’s intelligence service) for switching to typewriters to foil hackers.

Obama is having everything upgraded and old tech stuff thrown out to get rid of the evidence of what they’ve been up to. Toss those old computers that might have revealing info on them of fraud, corruption, abuse. Give Trump a new, and very blank slate of technology so that nothing can be traced. So, under guise of getting rid of the old, Obama covers up and gets rid of a very long list of transgressions.

You see, when you need to hide clandestine dealings, you need clandestine email accounts on servers in somebody’s bathroom. When you are operating in the best interests of the United States, writing down your message and passing it by official courier is just fine. The latter case will be Trump.

I would like Trump to put in a system where emails and such that would be part of the public records be automatically be archived out of the control of the government officials who create them.
