Mattis Wanted To Strike Iran In Retaliation For Killing US Troops, Obama Denied Him

Iranian-supplied rockets killed as many as 15 U.S. troops per month in Iraq in the summer of 2011, and Marine Corps Gen. James Mattis had a plan to retaliate. The Obama administration denied his request.

Six U.S. soldiers were killed in a single such attack in early June of 2011, with another three killed just weeks later. Mattis, then the commander of U.S. Central Command, had had enough and decided the U.S. must strike back before the Iranian rockets caused further bloodshed. In conjunction with then Ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey, Mattis proposed a strike inside Iranian territory, according to former senior U.S. officials speaking to the Washington Post.

The plan was to make it clear to the the Iranian government that providing rockets to its Shiite proxy insurgents inside Iraq was no longer going to be tolerated. Mattis suggested a nighttime strike against a power plant or oil refinery within Iranian territory.

Who’s side is Obama on? (That’s a rhetorical question. The answer is obvious).

Just finished reading The Operators by Michael Smith (The Runaway General author), said most of the Generals in Afghanistan said Obama hadn't a clue on what was going on there and he was terribly uninformed and didn't share interest there.

Who’s side is Obama on?

Back when the Iraq war was in full swing, Iran was supplying many of the IED's that were killing US troops. Bush II was in charge at the time, and he did nothing.

So weakness and indecisiveness are not characteristics limited to just Obama.

I agree Bush made a lot of mistakes in Gulf War II. But Obama would have done nothing immediately after 9/11. Has he done anything about Benghazi like he said he would?

Obamas allegiance to Iran has been evident since he squandered the opportunity to use the Green Revolution in 2009. We continue to suffer the consequences.

That is Obama “striking back” against Iran by delivering bags of cash currency to the Mullahs.

Most IED’s are just that, made from a variety of materials that are on hand. In Afghanistan some rockets had the explosives removed and replaced with concrete. The rockets were like cannon balls and the explosives were used for IED’s

Traitorobama gives aid and comfort to the enemy and Traitorcongress does............................................................ nothing.

Trump’s DOJ needs to indict Traitorobama for treason.

The mothers of every Congressman should hang their heads in shame for giving birth to such a disgraceful and worthless person.

Of course not. Hussein is not going to let the House of the Hidden Immam be hit. Why, that might offend the Twelvers. They’re his co-religionists.

I have the feeling that I’m going to be contacting my physician pretty regularly about erections lasting 4 or more hours... and it has nothing to do with little blue pills.

It’s saving me money too!

I laugh so hard I get chest pains, but I don’t go to the hospital for fear of missing something!

It like when I was a little kid and couldn’t sleep on Christmas Eve.

"For all the '4th Generation of War' intellectuals running around today saying that the nature of war has fundamentally changed, the tactics are wholly new, etc., I must respectfully say,
'Not really':

Alexander the Great would not be in the least bit perplexed by the enemy that we face right now in Iraq, and our leaders going into this fight do their troops a disservice by not studying- studying, vice just reading - the men who have gone before us. We have been fighting on this planet for 5,000 years and we should take advantage of their experience.

'Winging it' and filling body bags as we sort out what works reminds us of the moral dictates and the cost of competence in our profession."

Marine General James Mattis

Nov. 20, 2003, Addressing the detractors of untested Marine tactics in Iraq.
