A couple of minor corrections to your otherwise noteworthy connection of the dots from Nixon through Clinton to Trump.
1. Nixon didn’t work for McCarthy. Nixon was a Congressman and then a Senator during McCarthy’s crusade against communism in government. Interestingly, Robert Kennedy worked as a young attorney on McCarthy’s Senate committee staff.
2. As a Congressman and member of HUAC, Nixon (not McCarthy) helped expose communist influence in Hollywood. Nixon’s claim to fame, though, was in the Alger Hiss case in which the communist spy Hiss was convicted of perjury as a result of Nixon’s dogged questioning.
Liberals never forgave Nixon for rooting out communists who had infiltrated the Roosevelt and Truman administrations.
