Israel supports ISIS in NW Syria fighting the Syrian military (SAA).

This today from Col. W. Patrick Lang (USA, ret.), former top Middle East analyst at the DIA and former instructor at West Point:

Out in the eastern desert the SAA and friends are pushing IS back from around Tiyas air base. NW of Damascus the water supply is going to be turned back on soon as the springs are liberated from the jihadis. The SAA are making noises about an offensive toward Quneitra. I don't understand why. The IS jihadis there have full Israeli support and the population is much reduced because of the nearby Israeli threat and their long ago destruction of the city of Quneitra.

TTG and I remain committed to the thought that the main threat to the long term viability of the Syrian Government is continued jihadi possession of and now consolidation in Idlib Province. We can only hope that the R+6 alliance is waiting for a visible result from the coming Astana negotiation before deciding on a decisive campaign. pl

Really ..?? If Israel could fly all the way to Iraq and destroy their nuclear installment; I have no doubt the F-35 could more than do the job before anybody even knew the planes were in the air.

I appreciate the distinction/clarification.

In general Israel has been seen as taking military action after acts of terrorism. I know instances can be found of them being preemptive.

The reaction in Iraq is a good example.

I support both. I still think most people see Israel as being long-suffering and generally taking action only when it can’t avoid something any other way, or an act has taken place that can’t go unanswered.

The ultimate point is that Israel is not the open aggressor without cause, just to toss it’s weight around.

It takes measured actions specific to the need.

It’s one of the reasons I think Israel is clearly the nation to back.

I have never seen Israel attack Arabs out of the blue to instill terror.

Arabs do that to Israel all the time.

Correction:

The reactor in Iraq is a good example.

Totally agree with your statement. Netanyahu went to see Putin after Russia got involved in Syria and expressed his concerns about Iran/Hezbollah fighting in Syria and told Putin they would not get involved but retained the option to strike if they perceived there would be Hezbollah blowback towards Israel as a result. They’ve apparently made that determination.

Well well well...
Jerusalem is becoming an ever more burdensome stone, and Damascus has a date with it’s transformation to a ruinous heap.
Keep looking up!

Thank you for the mention.

At some point I may have heard part of that, but I’m glad to have it mentioned here on this thread.

Just today.

U.S. Court Finds Iran, Syria Liable for Death of Infant in Jerusalem Terror Attack

There's an agreement; but we don't need to see the proof I suppose.

Yes, Russia has that agreement; and that’s also why they voted on that anti-Israel UN Resolution which they did, but the Putin worshippers won’t even mention that.

Exactly, and Russia voted for that anti-Israel resolution from 10 days ago. But we are suppose to take it that the two have an agreement.

Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran and Syria act but ultimately, those weapons and funds come from somewhere.

+1, seems like a likely aspect of this.

Why would you even conflate the two?

Whoever is supportive of this attack be sure you are okay with cheering on Al Nusra/AQ and assorted Salafist jihadis and the weakening of the Syrian government forces to help the jihadis.

As Max Blumenthal, a Middle East & foreign affairs expert, just tweeted about this air strike: "Al Qaeda's air force"

I don’t agree with the vote, but I do agree with an agreement between the two on a specific point, or ROE.

I’m under no illusion when it comes to Putin.

He’s a bad actor IMO. His Ukraine, Crimea, and some other actions are bad. The fact he is still in power is problematic alone. He shouldn’t be.

When addressing a certain point, I don’t think it’s necessary to recite Putin’s sordid history point by point.

There will be plenty of folks to trash Israel over anything it does.

Israel doesn’t want turmoil in Syria on it’s border.

Israel weighed the prospects and took action.

I’ll side with Israel.

Here’s where I got that from. Netanyahu’s interview with Charlie Rose back in 2015. He makes that statement at the beginning:

If we are going to be concerned about any ‘agreements’, the one we should be worried about is the one OBAMA made to protect Iran.

What a world. Russia is helping Israel, and we are helping Iran.
