At the same time, Fariz pleaded guilty in a federal court in Tampa to conspiring to provide financial aid to Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which has been designated by the U.S. government as a terrorist organization...

Shadur imposed the 51-month sentence, to run concurrent with Fariz’s Florida time, saying it was the least he should have gotten if the two cases had been lumped together and placed before one judge for sentencing.

I have been wondering that too !
While a lot of the people there have Mexican heritage, I am sure they all want to be safe and crime free.
Realizing full well that the Mexican Governmental authoritiies must have cartel connections or at least communications,
you have to wonder what is happening on this side of the border with outr own authorities !
