Of course, the EPA is so out of control and over the top that it needs to be gutted. But if it’s shut down, we will need to have some sort of agency or authority to handle interstate environmental issues, and also to protect interstate and coastal waters.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
How were these issues regulated before the creation of the EPA?

Let the states do all the EPA stuff. Smaller federal government is a good thing. The beauty of states having this responsibility (and power) is its residents can say they’ve had it with that state and move to one more in line with their way of thinking so the control freaks can all move to states like CA, NY, and WA and conservatives can go to the states who govern in a common sense way.

All that without a flame retardant suit?

Anyone with industrial experience will realize the convenient potential for hazardous dumping. I’d have no problem rebooting the EPA with only rudimentary responsibilities.

We have gotten to the point where a very small regulatory/enforcement office is necessary. I guess we have evolved/been indoctrinated enough that some things just ain’t gonna happen and if they do, the perps can be made examples of. EPA no longer any more relevant than unions.
