Mike Pence on Russia in Ukraine: 'We're Watching and Very Troubled'
ABC News ^ | 2/5/2017 | CONOR FINNEGAN

In an interview on “This Week,” Vice President Mike Pence responded to new Russian aggression in Ukraine, saying, “We’re watching and very troubled by the increased hostilities.”

Asked by ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos if President Donald Trump talked about that concern with Russian President Vladimir Putin in their phone call last weekend, Pence would not say. But he revealed that the two leaders did discuss the crisis in Ukraine, which the White House had not mentioned in its official readout of the call.

“Those conversations are going to be ongoing,” the vice president said on “This Week” Sunday.

The vice president seemed to strike a different tone on Russia than the president, who told Fox News in an interview set to air prior to the Super Bowl on Sunday that he respects Putin.

"I do respect him," Trump told Fox News’ Bill O'Reilly.

When O'Reilly said, "Putin is a killer," Trump responded, "A lot of killers. We got a lot of killers. What, you think our country's so innocent?"

Pence said on ABC's "This Week" that Trump has brought a “new style of leadership” to the White House, adding that he believes world leaders are taking notice and finding it “refreshing.”

.....

But despite the strong concerns over the conflict in Ukraine, Pence left the door open to repealing sanctions against Russia. When Stephanopoulos asked, "Will the sanctions on Russia remain in place as long as Russia is violating the ceasefire in Ukraine?" Pence responded, "That's a question that will be answered-- in the months ahead."

Seems that way. There is no reason to be soft on Putin.

He’s a terrorist and a thug.

America First, but take no crap from Putin.

I’m pretty sure nobody said bomb moscow.
Relax.

Ukraine overthrew a Russian government. Plain and simple.
Russia has been attacking, killing and taking over a sovereign nation.

Russia should be way down on our threat list. The EU, ISIS, the Muslim petro-dictators who finance ISIS, North Korea, and the Latin American communists are a far greater threat than Russia.

You know how you can spot a Neo-con? They always lie about easily verified facts that don’t fit their world view.

I disagree...Russia has been and is marching across Europe.

They are attempting to restore the Soviet Empire. They are a very real threat, more so than North Korea.

They are very troubled about Russia in the Ukraine but not about Islam in America.

You now how you can spot a Russia propagandist?

Always attacking a smaller country, and arguing for it’s death and destruction.

Nah, not about Islam. We have already painted ourselves into a corner with our First Amendment.

Repeat after GWB: “Islam is a ROP”. There is nothing else we can or are allowed to say about the ROP. We have to accept it because it is a religion.

“Islam in America”

And narco-terrorists in our own backyard.
The Ukraine makes its appearance on our list of national security priorites on about page 5.

Russia is right to be upset that Bill O’Reilly called Putin a killer. That’s a level of discourse that is unseemly. The US was called baby killers in Vietnam. Latin Americans called us Yanqui dogs. All these terms do not lead to constructive dialogue. We don’t call China the butchers of Tienamin square, however that’s spelled. Cut the cr## O’Reilly. Trump doesn’t need you to set him up.

Marching across Europe? You are delusional.

Russia’s actions in both the Ukraine and Georgia have been limited and although unfortunate I cannot disagree with their reasoning.

This is all lip-service from Trump.

Trump don’t give a damn about Ukraine or Crimea.

Crimea was part of Russia for many centuries..it was listed as being part of Ukraine because the Soviet Premier at the time was a Ukrainian.

Trump and Putin will become partners in the war against ISIS.

The mess in Ukraine is a Soros/Obama operation...they deposed a legally elected president and installed a globalist stooge.

Relax, we can express an opinion on the world stage without starting a war. Do you disagree with the opinion Pence stated? It does not mean we can not find common ground on other issues.
