Sessions on track for confirmation over Democratic criticism

The Republican-led Senate worked nonstop Wednesday toward a confirmation vote on Sen. Jeff Sessions, President Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general, who faced a firestorm of Democratic criticism over his record on civil rights and other issues.

Democrats contended Sessions is too close to Trump, too harsh on immigrants, and weak on civil rights. They asserted he wouldn’t do enough to protect voting rights of minorities, protections for gay people, the right of women to procure abortions, and immigrants in the country illegally to receive due process.

Still, the Alabama Republican was expected to prevail on a near party-line evening vote.

“There is simply nothing in Senator Sessions’ testimony before the Judiciary Committee that gives me confidence that he would be willing to stand up to the president,” said Sen. Pat Leahy, D-Vt. “He has instead demonstrated only blind allegiance.” …

Apparently democrats are not bright enough to figure out what goes around comes around. They are destroying the senate to a point where it will not recover. This is a very dangerous world and these idiots are playing a very dangerous game

Oh, for crying out loud—just ram him through and be done with it.

I bought a bottle of champagne on Inauguration Day & my family & I had a toast to President Trump. I’m thinking I might have to get another bottle to celebrate Sessions being confirmed.

The Dems are making me SO angry, they may just get me out in the street, going door to door, for whoever is running against Clown Kaine & Mark Warner when they are up for re-election.

Get ready for yet another celebrity melt-down WHEN Mr. Sessions is confirmed. If the decision comes at midnight, that won’t stop Rosie O’Donnell from breaking into the nearest Krispy Kreme, demanding that the stoves be turned on NOW! “Make me some Glazed, and make it snappy! At least four dozen.”

By stalling the confirmation of Sessions, Democrats allowed him to stay in the Senate long enough to vote for Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary. It’s so fun to watch Democrats sh*t in their pants.

They think like Marx, who declared he would “stride through the wreckage a creator” once society falls.

Which Cabinet members stood up to Obama?

Democrats contended Sessions is too close to Trump, too harsh on immigrants, and weak on civil rights.

*****************

What the Democrats fear is what Sessions might discover when he is confirmed and starts looking into all the Democrat scandals that Lynch buried to protect them. Now the cover is coming off and we’re going to see things that are, in all probability, existential threats to the Democrat Party. I mean, serious stuff.

Lots of high profile Democrats are going to come under the microscope and it terrifies them. That is what is really driving their obstructionism of Sessions. They know what they’ve done and what the exposure could lead to.

As the old saying, the flak is heaviest when you’re over the target.

Leahy didn’t seem to care about Obama’s AG’s blind allegiance.

Exactly! They showed nothing but disdain toward their colleague, so screw the traditional “collegiate Senate decorum” and get on with it!

Ramming speed!

Leahy of Republicans: " . . . blind allegiance."

Leahy describes perfectly 2016's Progressive Democrats "allegiance" to the cult of "progressivism," an ideology which runs counter to the Constitution's limitation on government power over the individual rights and freedoms of individual citizens.

We have to have Mitch McConnell schedule these a little better. The rules say the Dems can have 30 hours to discuss, schedule the vote immediately after, or stagger the votes so they can split their 30 hours
