San Jose Mercury ^ | February 10, 2017 | Louis Hansen

Disgruntled Tesla employees have reached out to the United Automobile Workers, claiming they work long hours for low pay under unsafe conditions while the electric vehicle company sets aggressive production deadlines.

California lawmakers have also questioned Tesla for making its employees sign broad confidentiality agreements, which they say chill worker communications.

Tesla said in a statement the complaints are coming from professional union-organizers.

This will be interesting to watch. Unions vs greenies.

Didn't know that the S in the Tesla Model S stood for scab.

Yeah, but the big question...

Is there an employee discount?

My guess is the left will side with the greenies. Too much money at stake.

Unions are just filled with middle class workers that are now anathema to the left.

But, but, Musk is a liberal genius.

He must be all good, all knowing, and all powerful.

Nothing unusual here. On one hand the dems support union type worker rights (to get their money), and on the other hand pushes ahead this green crap while caring little to none for the employees involved.

Ahhh yes, here it comes, like the sun from the east. A business owner has nice things to say about Trump and suddenly it is discovered he has unethical practices.

Tesla worker: long hours, low pay and unsafe conditions

Question: Why didn't you report this when you were Shanghied and forced work?

This wasn’t an issue when Obama was President but only when Trump became President does it become a hot topic.

workers typically earn between $17 and $21 per hour, below the national average for a U.S. autoworker of $25.58 per hour.

Not a lot of money in the Bay Area. Still, people will no doubt take those jobs because in the Obama economy, there aren't a lot of alternatives. As the economy recovers, though, there will be alternatives and Tesla will have to compensate its people accordingly.

Or move the plant to another part of the country where $17 to $21 an hour will go farther.

Whatever they decide, you don't want UAW in your plant, they should shut the plant rather than accept UAW. Yes, they are Leftists and the Left is pro-union all the way, except for their own businesses. Just like environmentalists are pro-solar all the way until you try to actually build a solar plant.

Prior to Trump, Tesla could respond to the union by simply moving offshore. I'm not sure that's an option now... but they could move it to Biloxi.

On target.

Just like greens don’t mind killing a few hundred Bald Eagles if they are chopped up by “green” wind turbines.

Everyone who works is overworked and underpaid.

Get over it snowflakes.

Get back to work. There are a lot of people standing in line outside your workplace that would love to take your job.

Okay, the article quotes José Moran. I'm willing to assume there is one or two others. In the largest manufacturing facility in a state with well over 30 million people, a handful is actually pretty impressive.

They were also complaining about the high cost of living in the bay area. Well, there is a solution to that. There would be no problem getting folks in Texas or the southeast in general to take the jobs at $21+/hour. While working that job, of course you can work towards a promotion or try to get a better job.

If the job comes with real benefits, the value is considerably more than the $21+/hour.

Good point.

An investigation by this newspaper revealed that at least 140 Eastern European men on questionable visas worked for a subcontractor doing construction. Workers made as little as $5 an hour. The case drew scrutiny from federal investigators

Why is this national forum being used as a platform for Telsa’s internal problems?

Can’t ANY businesses out there solve their problems without the media, and the government being involved?

But it’s a liberal and loving organization...so just take it. Because the greenies say so.

Elites vs working class people. Seems to be a brewing problem in the Democrat Party, isn’t it?

My opinion applies to everyone, not just Tesla workers and I’d rather not visit that site.
