I heard Clapper give a public talk last year. He didn’t have a clue about the need to incentivize the various intelligence agencies to devise new, innovative sources and methods of intelligence.
Little Jimmy just can’t get over that “recruiting tool” meme. Sorry Jimmy, we’ve moved beyond “recruiting” them and are now importing them into America. Clap off.
Seems as though I recall that Clapper in testimony was asked about the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood....his response was that, to paraphrase, the Brotherhood was not a military organization or threat, it is simply a charitable religious organization. I believe that was when Egypt was in turmoil and we saw how that Muslim Brotherhood society worked out.
I’ve known him since 1993, when he was an Air Force three-star and Director of DIA. I briefed him on Intelligence Support to Unconventional Operations and I don’t think he understood a word I said. I’ve spoken to him several times since - especially about counterterrorism ops, and he hasn’t gotten any smarter; but he HAS continued to rise in the ranks...
Didn’t he LIE to congress saying he & obama were NOT spying on US citizens!
Thanks for confirming my snap judgement about Clapper’s intellect. It’s scary that someone so clueless is able to rise so high in the ranks.

He’s pretty glib and articulate, but not a lot of original thought or reasoning behind his words (or in his big, bald head).

Clapper was an Air Force General...he was not a pilot but had “Basic Officer Aircrew” wings. Not too impressed with that background. He is not the first Officer to make Flag rank that bewildered those who had seen him in action and wondered who was pulling him up the Chain of command to be a General?
Yet another loser.
Clapper is a tool.
Precisely! He’s an unfortunately all-too-typical example of an officer who rises to flag rank because he punches all the right tickets, i.e., never staying in an assignment long enough to do anything of note, never making any major mistakes, never pissing off any superior officers and doing what is politically expedient and good for his “career” (Read: next promotion). Rest assured that the soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines who served with officers like Clapper know very well who they are and what they are about.
