Hungry Venezuelans killing flamingos and anteaters for food, biologists say

Biology student Luis Sibira stumbled across the first set of gory remains last November: eight pink flamingos, their breasts and torsos sliced out, leaving their heads, spindly legs and vivid feathers scattered across the marshy ground at Las Peonias Lagoon in western Venezuela.

There are other signs that food shortages have led to the slaughtering of animals not generally considered meat: giant anteaters, for one. The university investigators - biologists and biology students - say they have kept records to show that dozens of the slow-moving creatures, classified as "vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, also have been killed for food.

In the city's dump, more evidence of hunger-driven desperation: dismembered dogs, cats, donkeys, horses and pigeons have been found since last year, all skinned or plucked, with signs of having been eaten, according to the city’s garbage teams.

... scavenging for food has become widespread. People are often seen looking for discarded eggs, cookies, milk, flour, breads, broccoli stems, beet leaves or expired butter, said Campos, a sociologist at Zulia.

For most families, healthy meals are simply out of reach.

The US needs to manufacture and distribute a couple of hundred ‘Liberators” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FP-45_Liberator

Or perhaps just distribute some 3-D printers and ammo.

Can’t help but be sorry for folks like this. Poor choices or not, this is disheartening.

We know that the Left would usher in this type of future for us.

It’s the real reason we stood up to Hillary last year and drove home our guy, Donald Trump.

That really was the most important election in 75 years.

Imagine the things Hillary would have done to this nation, coming off eight years of the Destroyer.

We were there folks. We stood up and were counted. Each of us who supported Trump solidly until November 8th, deserve a note of congratulation. You did your duty, all that you could do.

Soup Nazi (paraphrased): No Venezuela for you!

Must not be too desperate yet if they’re leaving remains behind. The norks would probably consider flamingo beaks and guts a righteous delicacy.

Just imagine that your child tells you they are hungry and you have nothing to give them. A lady from Trinidad told me that Venezuelans are crossing a fetid swamp as part of the transit to Trinidad to seek solace. You would think this Maduro clown with the price of oil rising a bit would at least import rice, beans and lentils to keep people fed.

I hate to say they “deserve it,” but its tough to feel any other way. No one imposed Chavez and Maduro on the country. No alien invaders came and established a foreign government. This is government for Venezuelans, by Venezuelans. The people chose these rulers in elections, and generally stood by while they slowly accumulated power.

The upside is that Venezuelans are doing the world a favor by showing us a typical collectivist disaster in progress. The world seems to constantly be seduced by Marxism, so sadly, people need a constant negative reminder of how destructive it is.

I reasoned that the elections around the Civil War, WWI, and WWII were also very important. The elections around the Great Depression were also up there.

As for our nation being on the line, surviving our not, this was certainly one of those times. Was it the pinnacle election? I would not say categorically that it wasn’t.

I think I could be persuaded. I do lean that way, but I did want to allow for other opinions. 75 years or the full life of the nation, it was a cataclysmic event either way.

I don’t think we have seen evil like this at the top before. We had a very sick nation. It had to be addressed now. We couldn’t allow last year to slip by, and wait for 2020.

Those that counted, were counted doing everything in their power to defeat Clinton and get Trump elected.

Once Trump achieved the delegates to win the nomination fair and square, we had one task to achieve.

True Conservatives focused like a laser to defeat Hillary Clinton at any cost.

We achieved that goal. Those that couldn’t help out, will never regain their standing in Conservative circles.

What’s the fastest animal in the world?
A live Venezuelan anteater that is still alive.
