President Donald Trump said he would support the peace agreement Israel and Palestinians "like the best" in a joint press conference during which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu railed against Palestinian efforts to reach a deal.
"I'm looking at two state and one state. And I like the one that both parties like," Trump said when asked about a peace agreement.
Trump's meeting with Netanyahu on Wednesday was an initial test of Trump's campaign pledge to go further than President Obama in strengthening the relationship with Israel. By the end of Obama's tenure in office, his relationship with Netanyahu was extremely strained and then-Secretary of State John Kerry blasted the Israeli government in an unprecedented speech before leaving that role.
Trump said the U.S. was looking "very, very strongly" at moving the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the disputed holy city that both Palestinians and Israelis lay claim to. The move would anger both Palestinians and Arab nations in what would be one of the strongest displays of U.S. support for Israel in recent times.
But while Trump and Netanyahu agreed on many points, the two leaders did show some difference on the issue of Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem and West Bank that have been condemned by the United Nations.
"I would like you to hold back on settlements for a little bit," Trump said.
Trump's efforts to improve relations could potentially be aided by son-in-law, Jared Kushner, a political novice, who attended the press conference with his wife, Ivanka.
"I've known the president and his family for a long time and there's no greater support of the Jewish people and the Jewish state than President Donald Trump," Netanyahu said during the press conference.

for the actual news conference. At the end (Questions from the press), he made that statement (about settlements). However, the response sounded more aimed to that reporter in that he didnt want to discuss settlements until he completed his conferences with the PM.
The President is a tough negotiator. He only reneges when there has been a breach by the other party first, similar to attacking after he’s been attacked first.
He has not reneged here. He’s saying hold off a bit. No one should second guess him. The reasons will become clear when they need to be made clear, if they need to be.
Coming from NBC, it would be best to verify anything they put out.
I hope it is #FAKENEWS.
There can be NO Palestinian state. Not up for discussion, not up for a deal! No negotiating with those turds.
Might be a statement at Netanyahu’s request. Bibi is really no friend of Israeli ‘settlements’, but is forced to support them politically. Trump might be aiding Netanyahu against Israel’s Right.
Was he talking to the reporter or Net?
Go to the news conference (C-SPAN).
Fake News because of context. Headline should say “Trump to REPORTER”, not “Trump to Netanyahu”. the quote is correct, context is what makes it fake.
The Arabs started a war with Israel.
Lost the war.
Lost some of their land.
Their are consequnces to starting wars.
Live with your consequences Arabs and STOP WHINING.
Two state, one state......... Can you say never ending stalemate?
There is another solution, messy but effective:
Declare the conquered territory a frontier. Create semi-autonomous agencies or reservations.
Land pockets of Palestinian or Israeli settlements that roughly conform to the existing occupying populations.
Each pocket could be conditionally self-governing with its own security forces or federal-based forces. There could be a constitutional guarantee of basic rights, court system, travel, employment, health care, etc.
The unoccupied areas could be designated as agricultural or herding set asides for nearby reservations.
That way Israel could militarily control the general area of Judea and Samaria, create a political and legal status for occupants of the conquered areas and obtain some sense of governance for all the peoples there.
