Trump Wine Flying Off the Shelves at Wegmans Despite Boycott
Fortune ^ | 2/17/17 | Tessa Berenson

A group that called for Wegmans shoppers to boycott Trump-branded wine probably won't be happy to hear that instead, bottles from Trump Winery are flying off the shelves in Virginia stores.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the wine has sold out at two Richmond-area Wegmans stores, and the eight other locations in Virginia have also sold out of all or some varieties of the Trump Winery wines they carry.

Jo Natale, vice president of media relations for Wegmans, told the Times-Dispatch that the ten Virginia Wegmans had plenty of Trump wine in stock before the calls to boycott, and sales have soared since then.

"How a product performs is our single measure for what stays on our shelves and what goes," Natale said. (Wegmans refused to bow to the pressure to take Trump wine of its shelves.) "Individual shoppers who feel strongly about an issue can demonstrate their convictions by refusing to buy a product. When enough people do the same, and sales of a product drop precipitously, we stop selling that product in favor of one that’s in greater demand.”

So far it appears just the opposite is happening with Trump wine.

I don’t drink but this is so funny I’m going to give bottles as gifts. Ha! Trump wine. I love it.

The wacko left tried this with Rush and orange juice.

And remember the Chick-fil-A boycott?

It didn’t work then...

I have been buying Trump wine since last summer and serving it to my liberal friends here in the Beltway whenever I throw parties. Its a hilarious dilemma for them.

We have a brand new Wegman’s up the street .... I haven’t been in it yet, but I might have to make a trip for a bottle or two of Trump wine.

The gift idea is a good one - two major pro-Trumpers in the family & they would more than enjoy getting a bottle of Trump wine - both have birthdays coming up! :-)

More ‘winning’, please ..... I’ve not had enough.

The unintended consequences that proggies always provoke are hilarious!
And they keep on doing it. Truly, stuck on stupid. More popcorn! (with wine)

I’d be happy to have a case of Leinenkugles.

I’d be happy to have a case of Leinenkugles.

Yuengling is the deplorabeer. At least in the East.

Having said that, Leinenkugel could qualify in the upper Midwest if the lefties call a boycott on it.

I bought a bottle of the black label and it is acceptable wine at a decent price - I bought it to post on Facebook to annoy friends and family, but loved it. I normally drink only French and Spanish Reds, but this is great too - especially if liberals are coming to visit. Keep a bottle out in the kitchen just to start conservations - and arguements.

For unknown reasons, the Miller distributors in Missouri have elected not to carry original Leiney’s, perhaps fearing it would siphon off Miller drinkers. The fruity Leiney’s are on the shelf but I don't care much for the taste of fruit in my suds.

Anybody know how these wines generally priced? I generally don't pay more than $15 for a bottle of wine.

The Trump wine is interesting - I thought that Trump does not use alchohol himself.

Just love it, even if I have to wait for them to restock:

Trump wines sold out at Richmond-area Wegmans stores; mostly sold out at its 8 other stores in Virginia
