Wegmans stores sold out of Trump wines: Did boycott threats backfire?

Did a threat to boycott Wegmans over products with President Donald Trump's name backfire?

The Rochester-based grocery store chain came under fire this week for carrying Trump wines at its 10 Virginia locations. The bottles come from the Trump Winery in Charlottesville, Va., bought by Trump in 2011 and given to his son, Eric Trump.

The National Organization for Women and other critics encouraged shoppers to take their business elsewhere, despite Wegmans' cult following and positive reputation. "Let's demonstrate through economic action that the residents and businesses of Charlottesville will not stand for the hatred espoused by Eric Trump and those like him," the protest group Stop Trump Wine said.

However, the attention may have encouraged Trump supporters to buy more of the wines.

"As of late yesterday, we had sold out many varieties in our (Virginia) stores, and in some cases, all varieties," Jo Natale, vice president of media relations for Wegmans (said)

The radical Stalinist left(Democrats) make a whole hell of a lot of noise but take away the millions of illegal votes and they never win another election.....here or in Europe. Point is unless in your business is primarily in one of the very few blue counties it will backfire biggly!

I have never seen the plans of the Left backfire so often an such a short amount of time no matter what they try.

The comments at the end of the article are just as good as the ones at the end of the other article the P-S ran.

CNY’ers are conservative.

THANK GOD!

Indeed. People outside the area don’t understand Wegman’s. When tourists visit Rochester or Syracuse and ask what to see, the top recommendation is in fact Wegman’s.

Yes, the compassionate Democrats raised hell about Eric Trump hosting a hunting fund-raiser that raised a huge amount of money for the little children with cancer at St. Jude’s. Their excuse was that someone may give money to his cause to get favorable treatment with President Trump. So he can no longer help these sweet children in their fight to live, and the ugly Democrats haven’t offered to make up for the amount that used to come to St. Jude’s from Eric Trump’s philanthropy. The are the slime mold of life.

I am about to head to Charlottesville on Sunday for a board game convention. The city is the home of the main campus of the University of Virginia and is full of snowflakes.

My brother is going to a local Wegman's tomorrow to shop. He will make our feelings known.

I bought 4 bottles of Trump wine directly from the winery today. FedEx. Should be here I in time to put one into the mix at a dance club with a fair number of liberals.

Where was their concern that someone would give money to the Clinton Foundation in order to get favorable treatment with the Secretary of State?!

Ha, trying to get people to boycott Wegmans for any reason is a non-starter. Hands down the best supermarkets in America.

I don’t know about status symbol, but I loved shopping there in Virginia. The bakery was wonderful...and the organic cotton pajamas were just a bonus:)
