President Trump announced Saturday that he would not be attending the White House Correspondents Association Dinner in April, punctuating his combative relationship with the news media. “I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!” tweeted Mr. Trump. The annual dinner is a light-hearted affair that traditionally featuring comedians and the president giving roast-style speeches. But Mr. Trump has been battling the press throughout the presidential campaign and has had repeated run-ins with reporters since taking office. He’s railed against what he calls “fake news” and recently denounced the news media as “enemies of the American people.”

why do we even have this dinner? The President has more to do than attend a dopey dinner, and eat what many of us could never afford to eat.
How about a double whammy....have President Trump give/sponsor a dinner honoring MILITARY journalists!! YOu know....the ones in uniform that give us the news when we are overseas and all we have to watch is Armed Forces Television Network!

This is great. The correspondents dinner has become nothing more than a mean-spirited “roast” for Republicans and a love fest for Democrats. The media benefits from it, but other than that, there’s no real point to this dinner.

He should announce: Instead of the WHCD I am going to be having a western style BBQ with Vladimir Putin, his wife, and a gaggle of conservative reporters.
