Baker promises funding to offset any Planned Parenthood cuts

Governor Charlie Baker is pledging to boost state funding for Planned Parenthood clinics in Massachusetts if his fellow Republicans in Washington push ahead with a plan to slash the flow of federal dollars to the organization.

Massachusetts’ five Planned Parenthood clinics stand to lose a total of about $2 million a year, from a budget of $21.5 million, if the federal cuts take place.

I don’t live in Mass., but have no issue with this. It’s a state’s right and if the good people of Mass. want to pay for abortions, so be it.

I don’t know why the baby killers at Planned Parenthood need any money at all. I keep reading in the liberal “media” that Planned Parenthood is rolling in the dough with donations from snowflakes and celebrities who are throwing money at them like there was no tomorrow. I think Planned Parenthood has more than enough money than they need to do abortions.

All funding to them needs to be cut. If the state wants to finance abortion that’s their call

I oppose abortion and I think Baker is a jerk.

But one of the core tenets of Conservatism is States Rights. If Roe v Wade is overturned, abortion will still be legal in all 50 states — unless a particular state outlaws it. Some will outlaw it. Some will keep it legal.

The Gov of MA wants it legal? He wants to fund Planned Parenthood out of his own state funds? Again; I think he’s a jerk, but he can go right ahead.

It’s not the “good people” in that state (or any other) who want to make abortion easy.

I agree with you except one point. Good people don’t pay for abortions.

If people want to stay in MA and pay for this then let them. I got my wife out of there and got her to move south and now she states it was the best move she ever did.

MA has a tendency to elect Republicans as govenror — as long as the Republican acts just like a Democrat. Baker is a good example of this. So was Mitt Romney and his RomneyCare.

And the v.p. candidate this year, Bill Weld. He was governor, wasn’t he?

Yeah. Weld was a Republican but always tried to emphasize the Libertarian side of that equation. Which means he’s always been a Liberal.

“Massachusetts’ five Planned Parenthood clinics stand to lose a total of about $2 million a year, from a budget of $21.5 million, if the federal cuts take place.”

I could not read the article (without signing up) but I gather Massachusetts will use state funds to offset the loss of federal dollars in order to keep the abortion industry whole- which is more than the state is willing to do for the victims of abortion.

It seems strange that we hear from every level of government that they could not do with one dollar less tax revenue under any circumstances - absolutely no way to reduce spending. Yet the Govnur of the Bay State can instantaneously accommodate a $2 million dollar loss of federal pork by reducing state spending elsewhere, or spend from reserves accumulated from over-taxation.

Stuff like this is why Trump and conservatives at every level of government need to take an ax to bloated budgets. Stun them with the blunt end of the ax first and then start chopping.

Sorry, but this is *exactly* why the Socialist Left (I repeat myself) get and have gotten everything they want; while the ‘opposition’ can’t seem to mount a protest to keep men out of the ladies room.

This isn’t an ‘for all Citizens’ (ala parks, libraries, etc.) where your point may have validity; this is using $$, taken by the end of a gun to fund that which is opposed by a good portion of the population.

This is exactly where the Fed should step in for the trampling of our inalienable Rights (1st being ‘Right to Life’...as in ‘Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness’). Unfortunately, we are so far removed from any semblance of a Republic, much less one of any boundaries...

Next, I expect to hear of quartering coming back. Not of soldiers, but of homeless a/o ‘immigrants’ (won’t be unconstitutional THEN, would it?).

Yep. People get to vote with their feet.

And when Massachusetts gets destroyed by a massive tsunami only the people who are ok with baby killing will die.

They don't.

But they like forcing people who are opposed to their child murder to fund them.

Sort of the same way perverts hunt for people who don't want to participate and try to destroy them.

It is a type of moral rape.

Degenerates seem to get off on it.

Yeah, Like Mark Kirk was a “repubican” Senator from Illinois! Same crap, different location, that’s all!
