In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint says after meeting with President Trump in the Oval Office, he believes the president seems very serious when it comes to listening to concerns from conservatives over the new GOP healthcare bill. “He seemed a lot more receptive than the word we had gotten from the House that this was the bill, take it or leave it,” DeMint tells us. DeMint spoke with me Thursday afternoon in DC.

speaking only for myself me and my lonesome, I want Obamacare REPEALED, PERIOD!

......the fed govt has NO business trying to muscle into personal health care

and cannot do it well, not at all!

IF djt and congress determine that there is a need for an additional health care program (on top of all the ones we already pay for), then let the states do it, not feds!

I personally would support pretty much ONLY some sort of standby funding for genuine serious emergency situations ... and that money should be taken from say 99% of all the taxpayer=funded abortions (!) that are going on....the feds do NOT have ANY legitimate role in personal health care (outside of vets, which the feds are screwing up, and fed employees benefits, etc.). It took us 5 months to even get a correct Medicare bill, for goodness’ sakes! Let’s get the free market back into health care, it is not perfect but it is 1000 percent better than letting some faceless WashingtonDC bureaucrappy decide whether you get treated or buried

I remember something former TX Sen. Phil Grams' said after he led the charge against Hillarycare back in the 1990s:

"There is no problem that cannot be solved by the free market."

Or something to that effect - I don't have the exact quote.

President Trump "Receptive" To Conservative Concerns Over GOP Healthcare Bill

Which he wouldn't know about if people didn't voice their concerns.

One of my thoughts, if possible would be for the feds to repeal Obamacare. For those who are stuck on it, they would have some sort of grace period up until the new system is approved.

They would have to provide proof that they had paid into the system and proof of having exceeded their personal deductible. At which point, the treasury would pay their medical costs at the same level their insurance would have. This would last until no more than 30 days after the new system is operational.

It will be bulky and expensive, but they played within the rules and we cannot punish them. Many, if not all were forced onto this plan under penalty of law.

I’m sure there are plenty of holes in this idea not the least of which is single payer.

Maybe it could be administered by the states with a refundable block grant or something.

I believe what we're witnessing is continued silent support for Obamacare from some Republicans.

yes we could phase out those stuck on obamacare, over several months time so that they could choose other ways if they wish

giving them a couple months transition is proper thing to do
i agree this can be done in a professional sort of manner, obamacare needs to end but it can be phased out over 2 or 3 months for sure

most states have health programs of various types, usually heavily subsidized for those in need (and all emergency rooms in USA are required to treat anyone who shows up with an emergency medical situation, too)

yes, at least a few RINOS are trying to “secretly” support more Obamacare

these (mostly senators) have to be REPLACED ... ASAP!!!

these are the very same RINOs who never challenged the IslamoNazi Infiltrator in Chief over his entire 8 years reign, always instead supporting or defending or funding him

McShame, Lindsay, Collins, and probably one or two more...MUST be replaced...ASAP at the next election or? imho

This bill, like nearly all such bills, is only a starting point. It is the basic bill the President wants. It will be worked out and massaged in both houses of Congress. After the bill is finalized, it will be submitted to the President who will either sign it or veto it.

I agree that this is just the start of a process. It’s way too soon to come to conclusions about what the final product might be. I also think that now is the time to voice rational objections to the current proposal, which Ryan should be embarrassed about submitting even as a starting point.

Hysteria, pro or con, is useless and I’ve seen a lot of both.

Isn’t this pretty much the initial bill Trump worked out with Ryan?

I think Trump knows that it’s not enough to end Obamacare without an adequate replacement and I think that much of the GOP Congress critters think the same way.

You can’t just jerk medical coverage out from under those who are currently covered. That would leave millions without coverage.

Best hint of news I’ve heard from Trump since he elegantly killed the Russian hack narrative on Saturday morning.

And thus not going to Duckturs, and as a result, in vastly better health.

Sounds like a Win-Win to me!

I don’t know if Trump worked on it with Ryan or not. I do know Trump almost immediately said he was looking forward to Sen. Paul’s bill so he’s clearly looking for significant changes.
