BARRINGTON, Ill. (AP) - Health officials are holding a vaccination clinic in response to a mumps outbreak at suburban Chicago schools. The Lake County Public Health Department says four cases have been confirmed at Barrington High School and one case at Daniel Wright Junior High School in Lincolnshire. More than 35 other suspected cases have been reported in the area.

We have a mumps outbreak here in Oklahoma and most of the cases are people who already have been vaccinated.
The article also says there have been outbreaks at universities, too. Mumps is particularly dangerous for young men, often leading to sterility.
I wonder which segment of the population wouldn’t bother to vaccinate their boys?
“Send us your diseased, your lazy and unwilling to work, your religious fanatics, your over breeding excess” - said NO successful country EVER.
Solutions exist for a reason. Use them before one becomes your FINAL recourse.
>Mumps is particularly dangerous for young men, often leading to sterility.
Weaponize it and send it to the islam sand dunes and Africa.
Many of the 2017 cases are from outbreaks continuing from 2016, when 5,311 cases were reported to the CDC, marking the highest number of mumps cases in a decade, Ian Branam, a spokesman for the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases at the CDC, said in an email.
In the outbreak on LI late last year, ALL of those infected had been vaccinated. Anyone have some statistics to add to this thread?
Every kid in the 50s had it, including myself.
Lots of cases in Washington State.
64% of cases in Washington State report being immunized. This just reinforces the need for near universal immunization rates to provide herd immunity.
How many health officials does it take to hold that clinic?
People who fear the cooties or other side effects of vaccines can just watch your kids suffer or worse.
Just keep them home.
Forever.
Ditto. I had it on both sides, too.
MMR does not and never did provide full or lifelong immunity to those diseases. Dumb of anyone to think that it would.
"Mumps is particularly dangerous for young men, often leading to sterility. I wonder which segment of the population wouldnt bother to vaccinate their boys?"Hahah. I don't see a problem.
Have the incompetent CDC hire outside professionals to do a quick match up between the locations of the Mumps outbreaks and the location of illegals and refugees ....!
You're right ... measles,, mumps, rubella ... these were considered childhood diseases. And, we all survived. The only vaccines I received were smallpox and oral polio. Today's youth are over vaccinated, IMHO.
We’ve gotten notices from The University of Alabsama. I think about 8 kids so far. My daughter was asking if she should get another vaccine.
Some might view it as proof that the vaccines obviously don’t work. Doubling down on fail is a poor substitute for success.
There are no short or long-term double-blind tests (vaccinated vs unvaccinated) to demonstrate efficacy, nor safety of vaccines. There are no safe dosages for injected ethylmercury, for aluminum nor for many of the other ingredients.
Anyone who has a legitimate interest in learning about vaccines should go to Amazon or B&N and get books from both pro-vaccine and anti-vaccine perspectives, so that they can make up their own minds.
