Guns are not banned in the UK. They are way more heavily regulated than in the US, but they are not banned and there are a heck of a lot of gun owners in the UK. A lot more than people realise.

When you enter the Houses of Parliament through the security lanes, you see they are guarded by men with guns - badass men, with very badass guns.
The last time I was there, two of the guys were carrying what looked like StG44s.
