One by one the barriers are falling for an impending Trump triumph.

Ted Poe (R-TX), a U.S. Representative and former member of the House Freedom Caucus, has announced Sunday afternoon that he will be resigning from the group that aided in destroying the Paul Ryan-led GOP’s attempt to repeal Obama’s 2010 healthcare act.

The House Freedom Caucus has been under fire and was heavily criticized by numerous Republicans before the GOP healthcare plan fell apart on Friday.

The Texas Tribune got a statement from Rep. Poe:

“I have resigned from the House Freedom Caucus. In order to deliver on the conservative agenda we have promised the American people for eight years, we must come together to find solutions to move this country forward,” Poe said in a statement. “Saying no is easy, leading is hard, but that is what we were elected to do.

First they resign, then they get primaried, then they lose to a Rat in general. What part of “Obamacare is unpopular” did they not understand.

Step #1 .... repeal Obamacare
Step #2 .... pass a bill which can be passed with simple majority (AHCA). The version freedom caucus desires can not pass both houses of congress. It was DOA.
Step #3 .... increase number of seats in congress in 2018
step #4 .... pass phase II & III with more republicans in congress.

AHCA will not pass the house. It is and was, DOA.

What has been passed by both the house and the senate is the HFC preference for the 2015 one page repeal of Obamacare. Give President Trump the opportunity to sign it.

You will likely assert that the Dems will filibuster the bill - GOOD! Let them go down on the wrong side of history and the American voters.

On wednesday last week, AHCA was within 10-15 votes of passing in House. The version wished by freedom caucus would be lucky to get 75 total votes in House. You shall always strive to compare apples with apples.

No......I think you miss the REAL point....

You wouldn't need Step #1 #2 #3 #4...#5832 ...Step #3 will happen when the libs feel the pain...Not until

Except now that we have POTUS Trump who will actually sign the repeal instead of Obama, all of a sudden the career politicians in House do not want a Repeal Only bill.

Trump is so right. Career politicians lie a lot, and should not be trusted.

The libs are NOT feeling the pain!!! 85% on Obamacare are getting tax payer subsidized payments for premiums. That in 95% democrat voters. What the libs want is “FIXING” Obamacare which means pour MORE tax payer dollars into it.

There's one problem with your timeline.

If the GOP House and Senate passed the AHCA in Step #2, there would be no increase in the number of seats in Congress in 2018. The GOP would have gotten slaughtered in 2018 after the insurance companies sent out their 2018 renewal notices with another round of massive hikes in premiums late this year.

That's why the AHCA absolutely had to have one thing that it did not have: a credible set of provisions that would have reduced insurance premiums IMMEDIATELY.

You may be missing one important salient point. Which is, only bill which can be passed with reconciliation is the budget part, in 2017. Because GOP can not stop the filibuster.

By failing to repeal Obamacare as ALL REPUBLICANS promised and ran on in 2016, failure to do so is almost certain to cause a bloodbath in 2018.

You’re wasting your breath around here. People would rather fall on thier ideological sword than listen to reason.

In other words, the provisions which will reduce premiums can not pass congress because of too few republicans to override filibusters.

The GOP could at least put up a credible bill that reduces premiums for people and employers, and let the Democrats explain why they don't think it's a good idea.

Here's the content of the health care reform plan proposed by candidate Donald Trump in March 2016:

1. Completely repeal Obamacare. Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to.

2. Modify existing law that inhibits the sale of health insurance across state lines. As long as the plan purchased complies with state requirements, any vendor ought to be able to offer insurance in any state. By allowing full competition in this market, insurance costs will go down and consumer satisfaction will go up.

3. Allow individuals to fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns under the current tax system. Businesses are allowed to take these deductions so why wouldn’t Congress allow individuals the same exemptions? As we allow the free market to provide insurance coverage opportunities to companies and individuals, we must also make sure that no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance. We must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it.

4. Allow individuals to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Contributions into HSAs should be tax-free and should be allowed to accumulate. These accounts would become part of the estate of the individual and could be passed on to heirs without fear of any death penalty. These plans should be particularly attractive to young people who are healthy and can afford high-deductible insurance plans. These funds can be used by any member of a family without penalty. The flexibility and security provided by HSAs will be of great benefit to all who participate.

5. Require price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure.

6. Block-grant Medicaid to the states. Nearly every state already offers benefits beyond what is required in the current Medicaid structure. The state governments know their people best and can manage the administration of Medicaid far better without federal overhead. States will have the incentives to seek out and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources.

7. Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers that offer safe, reliable and cheaper products. Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America. Though the pharmaceutical industry is in the private sector, drug companies provide a public service. Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers.

What a sad, sorry pile of nothing the AHCA was, compared to this. The GOP didn't even make the Democrats take a public stand against anything listed here.

I think the ideas you’ve listed on your profile page are great. Why wouldn’t you want the Republicans in the House and Senate to at least put them all in a bill and let the Democrats explain why they are opposed to them?

Oh I want a bill matching my ideas. The explanation given by republican committee members in hearings is that such bill can not be passed with reconciliation (simple majority). Only a bill dealing with budget items can pass with reconciliation.

If republicans fail to repeal obamacare and fail to replace it with something even if not a great bill, I will take a long vacation during November 2018, out of the country, because the pain of watching a bloodbath will be too much to bear.

“almost certain to cause a bloodbath in 2018”

The dirty little secret around here is that 9 out of 10 of the Freedom Caucus supporters are all set..they have their finances in good shape..they don’t have to worry about where their retirement money is coming from and I’ll bet they are sitting on Medicare(you know..that Government run health plan) and they probably have a supplement for a whopping $75 a month.

They demand that the Federal Government get out of health care right up until you ask them what kind of insurance they have....
then the narrative changes....”cough, cough...”well..but..we’re’ not talking about Medicare in this conversation”

Truth is they want government out of everybody else’s health plan but theirs!! And everybody else is supposed to go along with this siren song of Constitutionality. So now that they have what they want...they can play the Freedom Caucus/Koch Brothers game of “let’s blow up DC for the good of America” and be damned if everyone else suffers.

I hope Trump/Bannon and anyone else who will work with them run the Freedom Caucus out of Washington and out of our lives.

Funny how they never mentioned that when they ran in 2016 on a campaign promise to repeal Obamacare.

It's also odd that someone like Donald Trump -- who probably hasn't even uttered the word "can't" since he was seven years old -- would even accept that pathetic sh!t at face value. If he had that kind of approach to doing business, he never would have been more than the president of a local Rotary club.

Libs win because they’ll take incremental gains.. they were willing to pass bozocare even though it wasn’t single payer...
