Associate Judge Peggy Chiampas couldn’t believe what she heard repeatedly from the prosecutor — that the state’s attorney’s office would not pursue charges against suspects on parole or probation, some with armed robbery or aggravated assault convictions, despite clear violations, mostly for being in the company of other known gang members despite conditions of release that forbade it.
Chiampas made sure for the record that everyone knew it was the prosecutor’s decision, not hers.

Such thinking on the part of liberal public officials is a root cause of lawlessness in Chicago where the criminals go free too often.
I saw the semi-satire story about Maxine Waters just above this one and thought I had clicked on the other. This judge sounds just like the semi-satire piece on Maxine, the same words coming out of their mouths.
No wonder Chicongo has such a gang problem. Even the prosecutors office is on their side.
People who make that argument are the biggest racists.
I'd argue that they get away with most of their crimes....and in reality, MORE should be locked away..
They should change the name from Cook County to Crook County.
And sadly many of the people that lose their lives are innocent blacks that get caught in the crossfire of these gang shootings.
Decency from a Chicago judge? I must be in the wrong universe.
Criminal Statistics have only grown in this direction for 50 years.Profiling works and is correct only the PC crowd does not wish to face facts and crime continues to grow.
