President Trump Realigning Geo-Political Alliances, and Few Paying Attention…
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | April 15, 2017 | Sundance

Posted on 04/15/2017 5:35:06 AM PDT by bobsunshine

Maybe it’s because the complexity is difficult to distill; maybe it’s because some just can’t give President Trump any credit; or maybe it’s because the scope is too challenging to comprehend against the constant belittlement meme du jour; regardless of reason, President Trump is fundamentally realigning international geo-political alliances and almost no-one is connecting the dots.

President Trump obviously held a long-ball strategy with the Chinese; he’s described the approach in his books and lived the approach in his business life:

At the outset, position yourself at the furthest oppositional point when it costs you nothing; then leverage inward toward your opponent as they expend their resources to meet your stance.

Almost no-one is noting the scope of what President Trump has accomplished simply by positioning himself at the furthest extreme from the best interests of China, and then working his leverage back toward dual-interests as the Chinese expend capital to meet the point of mutual benefit.

President Trump has expended nothing other than his sheer will, and yet he has leveraged gains that are jaw-droppingly consequential.

♦ What’s the goal of identifying China as a currency manipulator? To stop China from manipulating currency, right? Well, arm-chair opposition says President Trump has reversed his position simply by ‘not doing something’. However, that opposition doesn’t seem to acknowledge the end-goal of the labeling has been achieved without expending an effort. The doing is unnecessary when merely the threat of the doing changes the behavior of the doer.

In two days, April 6th and April 7th, President Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. What actions has President Trump taken, other than ‘not’ doing something, and what actions has President Xi Jinping taken?

Very Good Article that sums up what Trump has accomplished with China without doing anything. People should read and understand how saying one thing leads to something better because you don't continue to saying it. Take NATO, calling them obsolete forced them to change their ways and actually respect us and start to pay their fair share - and now Trump can say they are no longer obsolete.

The Media is fixated on how politicians change their opinion or talk without getting anything in return. It's "Oh I was for the war before I was against it" or some BS like that. Trump is truly looking out for America and will MAGA.

Some college here...and even I get what our POTUS is doing. Its called sharp instinct, clear insight and no fear. Thank God for him and I thank God for him everyday and every-night in prayer. We are in good hands and if we could just get rid of the rest of the swamp we would be really doing great.
I cannot wait til he kicks ryno to the curb.

Excellent article. I have been saying much the same, but Sundance does a better job.

Trump primed all this during the campaign by saying that the leaders of China, Mexico and other places were very, very, smart, much smarter than our leaders.

Flattery works.

My first thought after reading this article was “I wish Trump had run in 2008.” On second thought: 2000.

Border crossings are reportedly down to a trickle - does this mean we don’t need the wall too?

I wrote what’s below a few days ago on another thread about the Trump WH running multiple Actions\Sprints in order to achieve ideal Outcomes across domestic and foreign policy...seems that Sundance is spot on with his analysis as usual!

“Sometimes I struggle to put down the thoughts I have about Trump and how he operates, how he expects those around him to operate, and ultimately the outcomes he expects based on his and his teams actions...I can see it in my mind and across multiple fronts, it ‘feels’ right...maybe the best analogy is the one many of us have used ever sense he got into the primaries; that being Trump seemed to be playing chess with everyone around him...now I feel like he’s playing multiple games of 3d chess at the same time; moving from game to game making moves...

Washington operates in a serial fashion with one topic moving thru the cycle at a time...to me, Trump says to hell with that, we’re going to have multiple streams of actions\sprints moving towards the rightful outcome at the same time...if we’ve got 5 things we’re acting upon and we get the desired outcome on 3, then we accept that 2 need to be reworked (healthcare), analyzed and the at the right moment, put back into the cycle to achieve the intended outcome...

as an example, let’s use the Syrian strike as our center of gravity since that’s been the main subject of discussion across the nation...both here on FR, in the media, and everywhere in between...in the past I’ve noticed that when something like an airstrike happens, everything else stalls and stands still...that’s what is expected because that’s how things have always been done...well, if you know anything about Trump then you know that norms do not apply; in fact they’re completely ignored and put out to pasture...he’s exhibited this behavior over and over again...I really like to watch it in action because all of the usual suspects are looking and talking about what’s happening over there, while Trump and his team are pursuing multiple outcomes in another set of places...

a few days on either side of the strike on Syria, the following actions\sprints were being run by the Trump WH

- Executive Order freeing up the Arctic and offshore areas for energy exploration (Energy Sprint, Economic Sprint)

- Golf with Senator Paul around healthcare (Healthcare Sprint)

- Syrian Strike (America’s Back Sprint, Moral Sprint, Message to Russia Sprint)

- China PM Weekend with strike occurring during visit (Trade Sprint, Manage your Problem Child Sprint)

- 1 or 2 Carrier groups sailing towards NK

- AG Sessions announces that our immigration laws will be upheld...this is only the beginning of what I think will becomes more and more expansive (Immigration Sprint, Nation of Laws Sprint, etc.)

There are others and the above sprints have multiple intended outcomes but these 5 actions encompass 2 foreign policy outcomes and 3 domestic outcomes, with some of the actions affecting both foreign and domestic policy...

So, what are some of the results...
- China refusing shipments from NK and sending the ships back
- China massing troops on the NK border...don’t know if that’s real or not
- China openly stating today that they\China will take out NK nuclear capability if NK doesn’t play well with others
- China giving some early trade concessions

- Russia looking really bad on the whole Assad thing
- Putin probably now meeting with Rex the T-Rex
- Putin realizing that he misses Obama

There are other good outcomes but you get the picture...

And all the sprints that were happening before all of this are continuing in the background (Obama Spying, etc.)...

My whole point is that Trump is a problem solver who just happens to love America...he is committed to fixing it! I’m enjoying watching him make his vision a reality...

Stand shoulder to shoulder with him in the breach on a daily basis...trust his instincts and his judgement and never ever underestimate him.”

Nailed it.The public assertion against x brings the behavior y. X is a bargaining chip if you will.It can be played at any time and indeed replayed if necessary. The press however wants to create divisions between POTUS and his supporters They are not interested in his subtleties of negotiation.Nor does it appear do some on FR.

I agree with article.

I was not happy with the Syria attack. But I decided to watch afterwards just to see what happened and Trump is thinking strategic and tactical moves that are fascinating

Syria is leverage move.

To be honest I’m really surprised the old foreign policy hands really not picking up on this because this is some of the most sophisticated political maneuvering I’ve ever seen

The truth is Trump is damn brilliant tactically and strategically. The left is too stupid to get that his Bluster is one of his tactics

Trump os maneuvering with the Chinese and Russians with the same skill that he went through the primaries and took out 16 components and then pulled up the upset of the century beating Hillary

You’re absolutely dead-on about the mobile streams going on same time

I don’t know but I’m assuming you’re read Art of the Deal

But in art of the deal is very clear about always having multiple multiple projects all working at multiple times because then you can use one to Leverage the other or pivot when you need to

You read the guys book it’s not hard to see his tactics it’s just amazing to see how effective they work with a guy that’s master them.

Correct. To keep future US presidents in line. Or at least have a chance of doing so.
