Sessions: MS-13 gang could be designated as terrorist organization

(THE HILL - Barf Alert)

Attorney General Jeff Sessions says the MS-13 gang could be designated as a terrorist organization. Asked by Fox News's Tucker Carlson on Tuesday whether he thinks the designation would be helpful, Sessions replied, “I think so, perhaps. I believe it could qualify for that." ADVERTISEMENT "There are rules that I guess the State Department does to establish that," he added. El Salvador's government has already designated MS-13 a terrorist group.

Sessions called the gang "one of the most violent gangs in the history of our country." “We can devastate this gang. We’re going after them," he said. "We’re not going to allow them to take over a block, a corner of our communities and terrorize people with this violence.” Speaking to a meeting of the Organized Crime Council on Tuesday, Sessions blamed open borders and lax immigration enforcement for the growth of the Salvadoran crime gang.

He said his Justice Department would have "zero tolerance" for the gang violence. "We cannot allow this to continue. We will secure our border, expand immigration enforcement and choke off supply lines," said Sessions. MS-13 is the U.S.-based arm of Salvadoran crime gang Mara Salvatrucha. Its members are known for their violent methods and fierce gang loyalty. According to the National Gang Intelligence Center, MS-13 has more than 10,000 members in the United States, and more than 30,000 worldwide. Early Tuesday, President Trump blamed former President Obama's immigration policies for the formation of MS-13, a gang the FBI has been closely tracking since at least 2004.

HEY MS-13, does this stand for Misses 13, as in 13 year old little girls.

We are not scared of your gang of thugs, don't you understand this.

Once God is your salvation through Jesus Christ, that removes fear of death.

You are murderous, stealing, overdosed demon possessed cowards. Yes, I said cowards !

Time to pay the piper. We are coming for you, so get your knees and start praying.

What does this mean in terms of the criminal processes? These gangs are better funded than our troops by drug trade. Theire is such a thing as healthy fear.. Fear of drowning, fear of death by electrocution. Fear instills boundaries and awareness.
Fear will save your life by that instinct that says something is wrong, life threatening.

I have seen numerous pictures of MS-13 members with Che Guevara tattoos. That is a good indicator of how radical and dangerous they are.

Exactly right.

Include BLM, “Antifa”, CAIR, NOI and any Soros-backed group.

-- What does this mean in terms of the criminal processes? --

It opens a line of federal crimes such as material support for terrorist group, short of some other criminal act. Roughly speaking (not literally, under the law) membership is itself criminal.

I have been saying this for years. Add the Crips and Bloods as well, and ship them all to Gitmo.

But the Crips and Bloods are Congressman Maxine Waters Best Friends.

Whether it was joining in with Crips and Bloods gang members in a communal dance called the electric slide at a housing project party,

Flipping the channels yesterday, I paused at The Five where they were discussing the MS-13 gang issue and Beckel was blaming Reagan for this gang’s rise because he allowed the flood of refugees from El Salvador back in the eighties. Though information I have read puts the majority of violent MS-13 members as illegal or relatively recent arrivals, there would be some truth to that argument as the newly arriving gang members rely on an existing support system by legal immigrant residents. And yet nobody in the conservative seats on the panel thought to thank Bob for making the very valid conservative argument for halting the flood of Syrian refugees today.

Aw, they were sooo cute as kids, but OH MY, how they’ve grown!

“MS-13 gang could be designated as terrorist organization”..

The “COULD BE” needs to be changed to read “MUST BE”, now to get Trump to officially designate it as such.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/04/18/jeff-sessions-justice-dept-under-trump-has-zero-tolerance-for-gang-violence/

...MS-13 operates under the motto “kill, rape, control,” according to a DOJ fact sheet on the group. Justice officials believe that when MS-13 crews in the United States are not aggressive or ruthless enough, their leaders in El Salvador’s prisons warn them to keep to “La Programma” – The Program – understood to mean stepping up the violence and brutality in their allotted territory to increase the gang’s power and territory.

Sessions said the United States will defeat Mara Salvatrucha by increasing border security as well as enforcing immigration law:

“If you’re a gang member, we’ll find you. We will devastate their networks,” said the attorney general who also indicated that this work will be similar to the one that the federal government has implemented in the past to “end the Mafia and the Colombian cartels.”

For his part, National Security Secretary John Kelly also referred to the issue through an editorial for the Boston Globe: “There is no better argument for establishing secure borders than transnational criminal organizations, and since being sworn in as secretary, in three months, we have increased our efforts to actively secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws,” Kelly said.

Sessions has made enforcement of our immigration laws a centerpiece of his tenure at Justice. He has stated that gang members will be among those illegal aliens who will be a top priority for deportation. Many of MS-13 and other gangs’ members are illegals, and efforts are being stepped up to remove them from the country. On Saturday, the Attorney General confirmed to Fox News’s Judge Jeanine Pirro that gang affiliation alone will be enough to qualify illegal aliens for priority removal.

Sessions specifically hit upon so-called “sanctuary cities” for the role they play, according to him, in providing harbor to members of MS-13 and other gangs. “Sanctuary cities are aiding these cartels to refill their ranks and putting innocent life – including the lives of countless law-abiding immigrants – in danger,” he said. Sessions’ DOJ is looking into methods to compel these jurisdictions to comply with federal immigration laws and cooperate with federal authorities. Some sanctuary city leaders, however, are resisting these efforts... (excerpt)

That designation should have occurred ten years ago.

(excerpt)
“Among the enforcement priorities listed by Sessions were the following:

Prosecuting those who bring in and harbor aliens, who aid or assist criminal aliens to enter, and who bring in aliens for “immoral purposes” (sex traffickers). Priority will be given to those who bring in three or more illegal aliens or where there are aggravating circumstances, such as serious bodily injury, physical or sexual assault, or death.

Bringing felony charges against illegal aliens who have already been deported at least twice or have been deported at least once and have a history of felony crime, gang membership, or other aggravating factors. Also targeted for felony prosecutions: anyone who knowingly enters into a sham marriage to evade immigration laws.

Going after illegal aliens who engage in identity theft or immigration-related fraud with felony prosecutions.

Prosecuting illegal aliens who assault, resist or otherwise impede immigration officers and agents.

Sessions directed each of the 94 offices of U.S. Attorneys to appoint a “Border Security Coordinator” by April 18. The coordinators will oversee the immigration enforcement program of each office, coordinate with the Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies, and report the “prosecution statistics related to these offenses.” This latter requirement is obviously an attempt to force transparency on the offices and to provide a measuring stick to gauge how well the attorneys are actually carrying out the attorney general’s directive.

This is particularly important, since resistance from some federal prosecutors is likely.

A Daily Beast article about Sessions’ memorandum quoted an anonymous “veteran federal prosecutor” denouncing the new policy as “totally horrifying” and adding, “We’re all terrified about it, and we don’t know what to do.”

The fact that a lawyer in the career ranks of the Justice Department doesn’t want to enforce federal immigration law is itself “horrifying,” and a sad reflection on the Department’s hiring practices.

How can he or she not “know what to do”?

The choice is crystal clear: Either comply with his or her sworn oath (to uphold the law) and follow this lawful directive or resign...

...In addition to taking criminal aliens, smugglers, and those who aid and abet them off the street, increased prosecutions will also have a deterrent effect. For anyone who doubts that, General Sessions cited some stunning numbers:

[From] January to February of this year, illegal crossings dropped by 40 percent, which was unprecedented.

Then in March:

A 72 percent drop compared to the month before the president was inaugurated. That’s the lowest monthly figure for at least 17 years (emphasis added).

As Sessions said, “this is no accident.” It results from:

[A president who] understands the threat, who is not afraid to publicly identify the threat and stand up to it, and who makes clear to law enforcement that the leadership of their country finally has their back.

In his speech, General Sessions also announced plans to hire 50 more immigration judges this year to handle the large backlog of cases. Another 75 judges will be added next year with the help of a new, streamlined hiring process.

This comes on top of the administration’s previously announced plans to hire 5,000 more Border Patrol agents and 10,000 more Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents — not to mention building a secure wall along the Mexican border...”
