Barack Obama said that immigrants to the US are being demonised in the same way as Irish people who arrived in America after the Famine.
In his first public speech since leaving office, the former US President said the Irish were treated like the “other” in the 19th century just like Muslims are today. Mr Obama drew parallels between the two periods in American history and that in both immigration policy was “‘driven by biases”.

The Irish never had host families or church organizations , or state welfare programs, job training programs that would support them until them get on their feet.Nor did their children have access to State funded education either.

Barry, this country wasn’t a welfare state during the Irish famine, it attracted people who wanted to work hard and be proud Americans. They worked harder than you or any of your constituents ever worked.
Yes, the Irish escaped famine and death by Catholic haters in the Isles. They came, they worked, they went to real schools rather than the secret hedgerow schools, they assimilated and kept their faith for the most part. Most importantly, they came legally.
Those Irish who have recently come illegally must be deported. We do not need people who do not respect the rule of law. The 86 bunch,Obama and the Clintons are enough
