A large explosion has hit an area near Damascus International Airport, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says.
"The blast was huge and could be heard in Damascus," said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the UK based monitoring group.
The airport lies about 25km (15 miles) south-east of Syria's capital.
The blast was reportedly followed by a large fire. There is no word on casualties. The cause is unclear......

My first (wild) guess is that Hezbollah was receiving a large weapons shipment from Iran, then Mossad learned of it in time for Israel to take it out. Just a guess, but that sort of thing has happened a number of times....

DEBKA from Israel was onto this about an hour ago ahead of the BBC saying there was a ‘mushroom cloud’ and the “series of large explosions” occurred at the ‘military section’ of the airport.
“Syrian ammunition depots”....”five attacks”....”manned by Iranian forces”.....”Syrian rebel sources” according to a report at 105am Eastern this morning from Arutz Sheva in Israel.
This article asserts quite forcefully that it was Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah armaments. They don’t report any definite confirmations (Israel says “no comment”), but there is a fair amount of detail about what may have occurred:

As some articles indicate, Israel probably bombed the Terrorist funding Russian Syrian Iranian axis of evil. They probably bombed an arsenal of Russian weapons funnelled through Iran and Syria to kill Israelis as Iran and Syria are designated state sponsors of terrorism.
And of course, we know the Russians are supporting terrorists in the Taliban.
Yeah, I guess Israel should send out invitations to Hezbollah to just fire Russian made Missiles at them from Syria and other places. Terrorists have already fired hundreds of missiles into Israel and Assad helps the terrorists get the weapons, they are his allies.

The ‘end game’ of the Arab Spring scheme was isolating and taking out Iran for the benefit of the Saudis, Gulf Arabs and Israel.
Donald Trump is committed to dealing with Iran.
But the other ‘end game’ involves Israel agreeing to a “two state solution” with the Palestinians.
President Trump has also committed to the ‘two state solution’ and he’s told folks like Allen Dershowitz this.
Jews in Judaea and Samaria will end up being forced out of their homes if all this plays out and is “successful” in regards to Assad, Syria and Iran.
Russia also stands in the way.
