I'm pretty sure he did. The President likely knew Abbas was lying the second he did it, and he probably was waiting for the optimal time to drop the hammer...a good contrast with his warm and fuzzy reception from the Sowdies....That and his reception in Israel.

Trump is not naive. He isn’t going to act on what was said about someone. He finds out for himself. He treats people with respect and sees how he is treated in return.
Don’t cross him, he will not forget it. You get ONE chance and then Trump has your number. Frankly I like this approach. Everyone gets a chance to work WITH him.

The President is building a coalition with Arab nations against ISIS and Iran .... along with economic bridges.
Our involvement in the Middle East now involves more than Israel's needs ... it now includes our own, as well.
Trump surely knew what to expect from Abbas. Now he has put his markers down. He has made nice and given lip service to the Myth that has governed the last half century of ME diplomacy and Abbas did as Abbas does and as arabs do. This time the President acts surprised and horrified and now has the excuse to get on with actually dealing with the problem instead of massaging the old lies and myths. He is cutting that Gordian Knot.
Abbas says to Trump “you say lying like its a bad thing”. ::)
