U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that he backs the NATO charter’s demand that all members be prepared to defend each other, weeks after jarring allies by not restating U.S. support for the agreement.

At a joint news conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, Trump said he supports the NATO charter’s Article 5, the requirement that each member of the alliance defend each other if they come under attack.

During a visit to NATO headquarters last month in Brussels, Trump had pointedly not mentioned U.S. support for the critical portion of the NATO charter. He used his speech there to demand that members pay more for the alliance’s defense. …

They’re looking for any excuse to push the hate.

“Boy, these clowns STILL haven’t figured Trump out.”

You have that right. All he wants is for the members to pay their fair share.

They all need to read “The Art of the Deal.”

They prefer “Das Kapital” instead.

Frankly wish he followed his instincts and ordered the recall of some American military units from Europe. Sorry but support for NATO is withering among conservatives. It is being viewed as an expensive, globalist entanglement that does little to enhance the real security of the American people. Over the long term NATO cannot survive without the support of American conservatives.

That’s exactly what the EU elites want. They’re stirring up hate against the USA right now to garner support for their long-desired EU military. And the “refugee” crisis is designed to make a presence in the continent distasteful to the US. Remember, they rule by crisis. They are fanatics for this imperialistic EU notion.

did Trump shake allies by not restating support, or did the lying, conniving press shake allies by supporting a sensationalist storyline created out of thin air meant to harm the President’s image?

I suspect the latter. Merkel was all ready to push the narrative along; a little too ready, as if prepared beforehand.

This ‘EU-military’ thing is a fake topic. If the US was to leave NATO or drastically limit it’s footprint in Europe (my belief), the EU might stand around and discuss this for months...but when you said that X-number of troops or tanks have to be paid for, and that an enormous part of the burden lies with France and Germany...well, it’s not going to be funded.

Go look at the social cost issues going on. Virtually everyone in the EU has a problem with their social pension program, educational commitments, and pay-offs to various countries to hold back refugees/migrants. There’s simply not tens of billions laying around to run a first-class EU Army or even a second-class EU Army.

No, this is no fake topic. Not after several decades of planning for it.

The crises are all EU-made. They did not have to happen, not a single one of them, but as Jean Monnet pointed out, the EU is all about rule by crisis. It took several decades for that single currency to come about, and that was planned for way back in the 1950s. A single military could come about in just a few short years, especially with the central command structure falling into place recently.

Not to mention, it’s not all about money but about bang for the buck. Control overspending in that one area and a disciplined military capable of anything can appear, especially with all the preplanning for it.

Not to mention, the economic problems are just another backdrop for the elites. Anything to keep the public off their toes.

They are trying to shape NATO into
some kind of UN entity, you know, with places like Turkey dictating US foreign policy.

Nato was meant to keep Soviets out and Germany down, or places like Turkey, let us not forget that. But now language is changing.

Aviation Week put out a screed that Trump
opposing Qatar means Trump wants to destroy NaTo. FALSE! Trump is using NATO just as it should, ie. not treating every member equally.

Bingo! With President Trump just like with Developer Trump; he is always in negotiation mode looking to end up with the best price, position, standing, product, whatever. It’s who he is. It’s how he is hardwired.

He is not a mystery to be solved. Just a straight shooter looking for the best deal for America. When he says “America First” he isn’t saying it to garner votes; he means it.

Unlike obummer, who lied as easily as he breathed, Trump doesn’t need to lie. He is straight up about what he wants for America. None of this is for him personally unlike obama who was always angling for more power/wealth for himself and by extension; the dem party.

During the election, Trump criticized NATO and laid out strategies that should be implemented to correct it. The correction strategies have been implemented.
