Mass search of Georgia high school students included genital touching ...

a) Deputies ordered students to stand facing the wall with their hands and legs spread wide apart;

b) Deputies touched and manipulated students’ breasts and genitals;

c) Deputies inserted fingers inside girls’ bras, and pulled up girls’ bras, touching and partially exposing their bare breasts;

d) Deputies touched girls’ underwear by placing hands inside the waistbands of their pants or reaching up their dresses;

e) Deputies touched girls’ vaginal areas through their underwear;

f) Deputies cupped or groped boys’ genitals and touched their buttocks through their pants.

This is shocking, at least at first glance. But perhaps it shouldn’t be. If police believe the drug war gives them authorization to conduct anal and vaginal cavity searches, forced enemas, and colonoscopies based on little more than a police officer’s suspicion that someone is hiding some quantity of illegal drugs, allegations of a little over-the-clothes groping of high school students ought not surprise us in the least.

According to the lawsuit, the deputies had a list of 13 suspected students. Three of them were in school that day. For that, they searched 900 students. (And, let’s just point out again, found nothing. In a school of 900.) ...

instead of some being miserable, all must be miserable.

I’m sure there was a political correctness issue where they couldn’t focus just on the 15 suspicious students.

So what would normally be an issue with the just believed suspects had to become a mass search of what sounds like SOP, just not with so many at one time.

Did they leave out gender of the officers searching the girls vs searching the girls?

Incredible. I hope the sheriff and everyone involved goes to jail and bankrupts the department.It is outrageous to read about these things. I always wonder how many similar incidents are covered up.

Of course they masked the gender of the officers doing the pat-downs!

"Female deputies patted down females students, while male deputies frisked the male students," just isn't inciteful enough, dontcha know? The purpose of the article is to elicit indignation, so omitting salient facts is a "given."

But the real question is:

Were they allowed to lift the burqua?

From the linked article: "The search was done without a warrant ..."

Nine hundred students get a body search without a warrant? Just exactly what do these officers think warrants are for?

Perhaps they suspected that a judge might just refuse to issue a warrant to search the bodies of 900 students. How could one establish probable cause to believe that each of those 900 students was guilty of a crime?

I wonder what the school administrators were doing during all this. I hate all aspects of this terrible war on some drugs we are fighting. Our rights are being sacrificed for no good whatsoever.

But what about the trans/non-binary students? Who searched them? And the trans/non-binary officers, for that matter? Who did they get to search?

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

I’ll point this out...it occurred in Georgia, where students would respect some authority. If this had occurred in California or Maryland...the students would have walked out of the building and staged some protest.

If a teen can go to jail as a child molester for sharing a video of his equally underaged girlfriend, then why can’t these cops get into the child sex offender registry?

Does that really matter? You think it makes it acceptable for a cop to go groping a kid without a warrant just because he is the same sex? If I were one of these kids, it sure as hell wouldn't make it any better that a man was grabbing my crotch rather than a woman. Is this a school or a freaking prison yard?

If female officers patted down females and vice versa who cares? WAPO is mostly fake news.

“it sure as hell wouldn’t make it any better that a man was grabbing my crotch rather than a woman.”

I’d prefer to have a female officer grabbing my crotch!
