Senate Republican leaders released a healthcare bill Thursday that overhauls Medicaid, scraps most of Obamacare's taxes and alters tax credits available to individuals to purchase health insurance.

The Senate discussion draft unveiled Thursday is the chamber's response to the American Health Care Act, which passed the House last month. Like the House bill, the Senate version guts Obamacare's controversial individual and employer mandates.

What a fetid mess. I see no way out of this without simply abandoning their efforts and allowing 0care to implode. The problem is that HC premia will be 40+% high by the time it does. The whole concept of HC subsidies and all the ridiculousness is a hea seeking missile aimed squarely at US solvency.

Actually....that is not true. There *is* a way.

The single way out of this, having addicted 1-2-3% of the US public on this new entitlement....is to pay doctors/providers in tax credits and not money. With 15 year penalties for fraud.

Health sharing cuts out the government. May be the way to go.

As long as healthcare costs are high, health insurance premiums will be high.

"As long as healthcare costs are high, health insurance premiums will be high."

Yep, no legislation in the last eight years has addressed the cost of the actual delivery of healthcare, or what doctors and hospital charge. The only way to bring that spiral down is to go to a cash only basis of payment.

“As long as healthcare costs are high, health insurance premiums will be high.”

An important truth. The battle that needs to be fought is against the high cost of healthcare. Our politicians argue about who will pay the exorbitant costs.

The argument holds our attention because, like the lottery, we think we may hit the jackpot: healthcare paid by someone else.

Reducing the flow of money into the healthcare industry is about as near as you can get to impossible.

***...a heat seeking missile aimed squarely at US solvency...

Two aphorisms that are proving true:
One once the American people receive an entitlement it will never be repealed...   AND
two The ancient Greek observation that democracy breaks down when voters realize that they can vote themselves benefits at the expense of others.

It is becoming apparent that conservatives have no representation by an organized political group in Washington.

And, I dread to say it, but If Donald Trump does not choose to represent the folks who got him elected - it is time to search for another.

The present Washington elite establishment must be replaced if the Republic is to be saved!

No amount of reform will persuade the libtards who threaten violence for their holy Obamacare. We now OWN this monstrosity and the GOP knows it. It’s fodder for the stupid people running up to the Midterms. Furthermore, as stated above, these idiots do not come close to solving the true essence of the problem of our healthcare debacle. Government is so worthless in this issue and is the problem.

The Senate needs to pass this through. As Dems slam it as not reducing costs enough, ram through state line and torte reform.

Those are the two things that will ultimately reduce costs.

against the high cost of healthcare

The only way I can see to decrease health care costs is to have tort reform. Doctors order way too many tests to protect themselves from malpractice in case they miss something. The cannot be faulted for this in this litigious climate.

Congress will never do that ... they'd rather bankrupt the country first (which may happen).

As long as the government is involved, healthcare AND health insurance will be high.

Chuck Schumer is less interesting to listen to than Lassie... Dittos Nancy Pelosi. To the nation's benefit, the two Democ🐀 Congressional leaders are mentally limited. Unhappily, the same may be true of the opposition party.
