Sadly, ever since the Supreme Court decided that discrimination against whites was legal in schools choosing students, I tried to pick all white male doctors with American names. They are the only ones we know got in on their ability.

We had 10 or 12 blacks start in our pharmacy class. Most didn’t make it by the second year and none of them graduated with me.

That is an interesting perspective. An entire I know told me that black patients in her hospital sometimes requested white nurses. I was puzzled and asked why? She said they thought the black or other nurses were given breaks to get into and pass nursing school and were inferior nurses.

I thought this very sad and a good example of the evils of affirmative action. If we just made discrimination illegal all nurses would be assumed equally competent.

If I were an African American nurse or doctor this would really rankle me
