Criteria seems a bit odd. I haven’t been there but Tuscon doesn’t seem in the same category as simepl like Camden, but then what do I know.

Probably used ridiculous metrics like lack of diversity being a a big negative.

On this list, being “14” is worse than being “42” or “32.”

Number one was Detroit.

You can have Phoenix, we’ll take Scottsdale although we liked it a a whole lot better when we lived there 50 years ago and there were no stoplights, horses had the right-of-way and Pinnacle Peak restaurant was open.

I understand that and agree with Detroit being #1. But Baltimore should definitely be in the top 5.

My granddaughter was in the hospital in New Orleans last week. I can’t stand that rat infested hell hole. New Orleans should be near the top of the list. I was a grad student at UT and I loved living in Knoxville Tennessee.

The people in Lubbock are conservatives. Is that counted as undesirable?

I raised my eyebrows at Miami Beach, too! Of course the Miami Beach I lived and worked in years ago as a nurse, may have changed.

But there are parts of these cities that are beautiful and nice to live in. I’m thinking of Baltimore. What are the criteria used I wonder.

There’s something peculiar with the criteria, because little Gastonia, North Carolina is the only NC city on there, while notably bad Durham is not.

I agree. I live in Raleigh and Durham is a mess with murders and crime! Can't figure what the issue is with Gastonia.

Both my children and their spouses went to Texas Tech in Lubbock as did 3 grandsons...They loved it!

Could be in some circles. Maybe they have an illegal problem. There is a large population of Mexican people there.

I live 30 miles from Detroit. Haven’t been in the city in a decade at least. I’ve been told it’s making a comeback though ??!!

I've been around much of the country and this is a pretty good listing of worst places. Most of the big cities (like New York, Boston, Chicago) are great to live in if you can afford it. Of course some bad areas in all the big cities but generally you can completely avoid the bad areas if you live in the better areas. There are probably lifetime residents of Manhattan who have never set foot in places like Brownsville (Brooklyn) or Hunt's Point (Bronx). I've been to Chicago multiple times and have yet to set foot in the areas that are getting all the shootings.

There are some cities however where you can't escape the awfulness. Waterbury, CT; Lawrence, MA; Camden, NJ are examples of that. I'm surprised Bridgewater, CT wasn't on the list.
