They axed them how it feels to be out of a job because the left insisted on establishing an unrealistic minimum wage.

I like Zane Tankel and watch him often on Varney, but he's wrong about Obama and his ilk. They do believe you can raise the minimum wage and the effects will be positive.

They get this idea from the liberal media who regularly says that the jury is out on the effects of minimum wage hikes.

They ignore the "anecdotal" evidence of REAL businesses and instead believe what universities (theorists) and liberal think tanks tell them (all of which is of course BS).

It all comes back to buying votes and communism/socialism and the power of propaganda.

Liberals stir the pot and obfuscate so that the truth cannot get to the people.

They even believe their own propaganda.

How many let go were Americans, or with green cards?

How many feared the enforcement of immigration laws?

Did the NY state politicians who pushed minimum wage hike get reelected?

Our state had a huge minimum wage hike and we are seeing the start of the same thing.

The real killer of the minimum wage hits unskilled labor hard because some people and job functions are just not worth $15 per hour.

One of our family members is a teacher and now the dish washer in the school cafeteria makes as much (or even more since the dishwashers get overtime pay and other benefits) as some of the entry level teachers, which the teachers have a real hard time with.

It's a real morale killer to see unskilled, illiterate workers with no serious job responsibility to suddenly make nearly the same or even more than you do.

Some of the teachers are actually considering applying for the dish washer job because it good pay with none of the stress and responsibility of the teaching positions.

With higher minimum wages, unskilled workers get frozen out of the job market because entry level jobs either get eliminated , filled with more highly skilled workers or replaced with automation.

The jobs available for unskilled workers in the high minimum wage world become dead end jobs like chicken plucking where workers are pushed hard to provide enough output to justify their pay..

Another fallout from the minimum wage hike in NYC is the theater district. Many young actors, actresses, stage hands, set and costume designers, and even playwrights start their careers as waiters and waitresses.

They work in restaurants for enough to live on so they can work on (and off) Broadway for little or no pay.

Liberals believe that the minimum wage can be set at any level without regard to the value of the work being performed.

They believe this because they believe that wealth is created by a government printing press, not by work or industry or other human activity.

How many of those employees were receiving government assistance while working? Medicaid, food stamps, AFDC, section 8? I’ll bet most. If so the business was being indirectly subsidized by the taxpayers so people could afford to live in NY while getting paid less than it costs to live there.
