The European Union has threatened to invoke Article 7, a move which could see Poland lose its voting priveledges in the political bloc and possibly face sanctions over recently proposed judicial reforms.
The European Union announced Wednesday that it would be taking further steps against Poland for what it views as a systematic threat to the rule of law. The political bloc has criticised the Polish governments proposed judicial reform in the past and is now eying a move that could suspend Warsaws vote within the union by invoking Article 7, Die Presse reports.
Polands ruling party has been pushing the reforms as a mean to tackle what they see as left-wing activist judges, and to introduce Christian values into the system.
EU Commission Vice-President Franz Timmermans has been a supporter of invoking Article 7 saying that Poland had significantly undermined the independence of the judiciary.
I am no Nostradamus, I can not make large predictions, but I believe that the Polish people will not support the government when it comes to leaving the EU, Timmermans argued.
Mr Timmermans also took to Twitter Wednesday afternoon claiming that the vote on Article 7 was close saying, we are very close to triggering Article 7.
EU Justice Commissioner Vera Jourova has also slammed the Polish government saying, I can not imagine that German or Swedish taxpayers want to pay for the establishment of a kind of dictatorship in another EU country, implying that the halting of EU money to Poland is also on the table.

Wow so the unelected, no tax exempt, above law diplomatic immunity E.U. views voting as a "privilege". The arrogance of the E.U. is simply astounding!
The EU is the new USSR.
Well doing things like this well be sure to change that attitude - who are these people. I am a Nostradamus and I will make a large prediction - If the E.U does this Poland is out of the E.U. in 5 years - if the E.U lasts that long - the Euro is going to crumble in two to three years.
Crystal Ball goes foggy
The EU seems to have become Germany’s 4th Reich. They learned how to achieve it through Brussels the soft way vs. previous “hard” ways.
Are these people our allies?
Go Poland. You are one of the few remaining countries with a future.
Keep building uo for the sure to come war with Islam.
Hopefully, we will be with you.
Just a micro look at what globalization can be. An un elected, taxing agent, with the power to pick the winners. World domination is the ultimate goal. Enslavement of mankind has always been the long game of the oligarcical power elite. If it takes 1000 years this will always be the goal. It is human nature. When you have so much wealth that you are no longer subject to any law , power is and domination is the only challenge left and even then personal fullfillment is not achieved. very frightening
The US should support Poland in this.
So, what we are seeing here is a crack in the synthetic union.

The who EU is garbage
I agree 100%, and do not think you are exaggerating at all.
I love how Poland is standing up for Christians. They are doing the job the Vatican refuses to do.
The EU is going to push Poland and the other resistive eastern european nations into an alliance with Russia and Israel. Just watch.
The EU always was, and still is, a means of locking all the member countries into a socialist government system that was designed to be non-reversible. Guess what? The ruling bureaucrats are royally pissed that there is a developing push back movement.
I would argue, the new eastern European alliance will be with America not Russia
Pope John Paul II kept Poland’s spiritual resistance to communism alive... now the Poles are reciprocating.
The EU is exactly what Hitler envisioned: A Europe dominated by Germany. I suspect that is why England left (they’d never even abandoned their own currency, knowing their future lay more with the Anglosphere and Commonwealth that with the Fourth Reich). Ireland was also subjected to intense pressure because of their laws against divorce (repealed in the 90s), “gay marriage” (repealed more recently), and abortion (in the process of being overturned now). They took the money; now they’re just a small state in a larger empire.
Eastern Europe needs a third way. That would be Poland, Hungary, eastern Ukraine Romania, Bulgaria (did I leave any still sane country out?) that is a neutral bloc, a buffer between Russia and the EU. That's the only chance to save some remnant of European civilization.
