Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says federal borrowing limit must increase by Sept. 29, giving lawmakers little time after recess to act

Republicans are leaving town for an August recess after a failed attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act. When they return in September, they’ll have just 12 working days to avert another big problem.

In a letter to lawmakers Friday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the federal borrowing limit, or debt ceiling, needed to be raised by Sept. 29 or the government risked running out of money to pay its bills.

Maybe they should never come back..

Six weeks off...Maybe we should have a six week general strike.

No tax money for the fools to spend..

Trump should call them back..if they do not come he should make recess appointments

They always have.

They always will.

Why not bring back the (quaint) notion of not spending money that you ain’t got?

Oh, that will sail through no problem. Both parties LOVE spending our money and that yet to be earned by our grandchildren.

If it’s not raised, “government shutdown”.... in which the executive decides what to spend ;)

RINOs and Democrats will demand concessions to raise the limit.
Media will say they are doing a wonderful thing and that a ‘clean’ debt-limit hike is a bad thing...

You know, just the opposite of what the media said when Obama was there.

No. Cut spending. Or, cut a dollar of spending for every dollar increase in debt limit. Start with Planned Parenthood, PBS, sanctuary cities, federal funds to schools that give illegal aliens in-state tuition while denying it to US citizens, etc.

Just do it. It’s not a game. It’s a necessity.

After much gnashing of teeth and more kabuki theater, Mitchie and Paul Ryno will do it and act like it is an accomplishment.

Here comes $21 TRILLION Deficit!

BTW, who [realistically] thinks President Trump will be able to get Tax Cuts out of this congress?

Trump doesn’t sign unless the debt ceiling bill includes Obamacare repeal and tax reform.

Congress is stupid.

Trump now has the advantage.

Go Trump - MAGA
Go Melania AKA Lady MAGA

Pepe is pleased

This one is easy.

Fedzilla needs more money.

Fezilla ALWAYS gets what Fedzilla wants.

Simple, balance the current “CR”/budget and no ceiling increase is needed! And next year go for a bit of a surplus to start paying down the debt.

I've been a big advocate of the president not signing this for about 4 or 5 months now as I believe this is a critical moment and its time to make senators and their major donors pay. Anything the administration can do to affect major donors governmental business in a negative fashion should be brought to bare/bear?? inverse lobbying.

President Trump I think you should not sign the CR unless

Otherwise ... shut'er down they ain't doing anything thing anyhow - sorry no pork for you!
