CNN and celebrity gossip site TMZ could potentially be sold off after AT&T merges with Time Warner, a report claims.
The $85 billion deal, which was announced in October, will give AT&T control of Time Warner properties including CNN, HBO and TMZ, as well as the film studio Warner Bros and other coveted media assets.
Sources told Deadline that AT&T executives are considering getting rid of some of Time Warner's assets, including the cable news network and the celebrity gossip site.
'They don't want any controversy,' one source said of AT&T.
AT&T reportedly expects the deal to be approved and closed by the Justice Department by the end of the year.

I can’t think of a better time to sell low on a poorly performing, ethically challenged company? It’s filled to the brim with toxic and unprofessional staff in key positions. The strip it down and rebuild process would be horrible and expensive. Which also brings us to our Washington Swamp. Maybe it would be good practice?
I’ll bid 5¢ for CNN. 15¢ for HBO.

On their balance books, they are putting up around a billion a year in profits. I do agree...they could be doing better than that. If the CBS crowd did buy them....at least for the first year, I wouldn’t expect much of a change. Internationally, this might be a plus-up for CBS because CNN is highly viewed outside of the US and is a noted brand-name.

Donald says "Hey Randall I'll let the TW deal go thru if you sell me CNN". Then Trump transforms CNN into a real news network. If Trump was able to do that he would make a LOT of money off CNN. Lots of Americans are hungry for a NEUTRAL news network - no propaganda from the left or right.
CBS should not be allowed to buy CNN. Make AT&T peel it off and have some bidders with integrity get a shot at it.
