Exclusive: Allen West Fed Up, '75 Percent' Sure He's Going to Run Again

Republicans’ approval of Congress is at an all-time low for the year. It turns out skipping town after failing to follow through on a 7-year-old health care promise is not popular with voters.

The climate makes Col. Allen West’s column today especially effective. “Who’s in charge?” he wondered, voicing the frustrations of so many Americans.

“There is no justification” for being on recess right now, he said in a conversation with Townhall Wednesday. "At least that’s not how it works in the military."

“When I think about how I was brought up in the military you don’t just pack up and go home until the mission is done and you’ve exceeded the standard,” he explained.

The House went home as well, despite not offering any tax reform plan, he noted. The American people can only “shake their heads.”

The last few sentences of West’s column were especially intriguing – he seemed to hint he is considering another run for Congress.

"I freely admit, if I were still in Congress I would be embarrassed," he wrote. "I also admit that what I am witnessing inspires me to consider a return, the American people deserve better."

I asked him to elaborate.

“There have been some people here in Texas that have asked me to consider it and so my wife and I are praying about it,” West said. “We’ll make the decision at the right time.”

“There’s a 75 percent chance right now that I will be willing to do that,” he added, understanding how “vicious and ugly” campaigns can be.

He at least knew he is not jumping in the ring for the 2018 cycle.

At a Young America’s Foundation conference I attended a few years ago at which West was speaking, I asked him if he would consider running for president. The question was met with generous applause from the young audience, who clearly saw leadership qualities in the speaker.

West simply responded, “If the Lord calls me to serve.”

I asked him if that answer still rings true today.

“I will always seek to serve God and country,” he said. “If that is an opportunity that would arise, it would be an incredible honor.”

Especially embarrassing if you have to count Maxine Waters as one of your collegues.

West simply responded, “If the Lord calls me to serve.”

The things God gets blamed for.

So whose district does he live in?

Oh why, oh why, wasn’t the first black president a real American, a person who was born here, served in the military and had married Christian American parents, a person like Allen West. It is sickening, and all I can say is, we could have done a lot better!

I remember reading a news story about the Congressional Black Caucus. One member is expected to provide the lunch that they have together each week. When it was Allen West’s turn to feed them, he ordered the lunches from Chick-fil-A. Boy, the other members weren’t happy with that!

He lives in Texas now, I’m pretty sure.
Replacing Cornyn would be excellent.

Alexander, Corker, Flake, Gardner, Graham, Hatch, Heller, Hoeven, Murkowsky, McCain, Rubio, Burr, Tillis, Portman, McConnell, Thune, Cornyn, Cochran, Isackson, Blunt, Johnson, Toomey, Capito, Rounds, Fischer, Collins, Wicker, Sasse, Ernst and Shelby are all Democrats in R jerseys.

We need to take out Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake in 2018.

He should run for the Senate. Believe the FL Dem Senator is up for election this year.

I’d register to vote in Texas to vote for him.

Hell, if millions of illegal aliens can register to vote in Texas then so can the ret of us!

Obama reminded me of King John of England. Both of them had the reverse Midas touch; everything they touched turned to crap. 800 years ago, John was so incompetent that when his reign ended, Englishmen vowed they would never again have a king by that name. Along that line, it will be sad if Americans never elect another black president because Obama did such a bad job.

Both parties brought us the Kenyanesian Usurpation.
They BOTH wanted the Constitution changed without the hassle of amending it.
They convinced people that being just being born here or just having one American parent makes one a natural born citizen.

Natural born citizen means born here of citizen parents.

Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Sotoero should be proof enough of the wisdom of the founders.

He was born a British subject, not a natural born citizen.

He should run for Senator in Florida.
If Sen. Bill “Useless” Nelson should expire or become unable to serve, maybe Governor Scott can appoint him.
