NOW PLAYING State Department: Our position on North Korea hasn't changed Close “Only in Florida.”

That is what a Florida man said after he found a 6-foot-long boa constrictor that had been living unnoticed in his attic.

Bob van der Herchen told FOX13 that he saw a portion of the snake in the ceiling.

"I see it," van der Herchen said. "And I could only see about this much of it," he said while using his hands to make a small circle.

Especially for Salamander:

They goofed, removing the unanticipated house guest. In FL there's a good chance the legless friend was removing mucho rats, mice, and other vermin. Good thing the snake wasn't injured in the removal and they're now looking for an adoptive Boa mommy or daddy.

that had been living in attic for years

If it lived there for years, there must be a lot of other critters up there. Probably should have kept it!

Yeah, a boa is a nice feature, but does the house have granite countertops in the kitchen?

You’d have to have seven or eight snakes to make up for no granite countertops.

I have a good friend and neighbor who’s in the critter removal business here in E TN. When he gets a non-poisonous snake he takes it home and drops it off on his property. I’ve asked him to drop any extras off on my property.

Orkin the Boa Constrictor!

I have thought that if my attic wasn’t filled with fluffy fiberglass insulation that is bad for mammals that i would adopt a cat to live up in my attic as an “attic cat”, the only issue would be changing it’s litter box, unless I could make a cat ladder to the garage....

I’d leave it alone. It’s probably been keeping the attic critter free for years. Squirrels, rats, raccoons, possums..no problem

LOL! I could just see the cat looking at you while you were trying to coax it to accomplish any task, let along climbing a ladder.

Sounds like a plan to me. Earlier posts from today mention varmints like to munch on car wiring that have soy based auto wiring insulation.

Six footers eat rats. Eight footers eat dogs. Ten footers eat little children.

When I started collecting rat and other snakes for the gardens years ago, I noticed a screeching halt to water moccasins and rattlers, in fact I have a theory now that their venom is a delicacy for their predators.

It’s so much of a plan that if I saw a Black Snake in my basement, I’d do my best to make it happy and keep it there. I’ve just done a huge cleaning and replacement job in a guest room due to rodent damage that one or two good, hungry snakes could have prevented.

I’d say he’s been a good tenant if they didn’t notice him for so many years.

Every night is Unlimited Buffet night in my attic with a six-foot long fat black snake stuffing itself. According to the skins I find, there’s probably more than one. I first noticed the skins about thirty years ago.

If there were enough critters in my attic to feed a 6 ft. boa I think I’d want to clean the whole mess out, disinfect, paint, replace the insulation and seal the entry points.

The funny Floriduh part is the owner of the house said he’s heard the noises for years and just thought it was rats!
