Standing Ovations for Triumphant Dennis Prager, Conducting at Disney Hall
Breitbart ^ | August 17, 2017 | Joel B. Pollak

Conservative talk radio host Dennis Prager received a standing ovation from a near-capacity crowd the moment he walked on the stage Wednesday evening to conduct the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The audience was not only applauding the music, but the principle of freedom of expression, after several left-wing members of the orchestra had attempted to organize a boycott of the event by the musicians and by the public.

A letter circulated by the boycotters exhorted: “Please urge your friends to not attend this concert, which helps normalize bigotry in our community.” One boycotter, violinist and UCLA professor Andrew Apter, told Prager on his show that he would be willing to play for the pleasure of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un rather than playing in the orchestra under Prager’s baton.

Other musicians replaced those who failed to appear. Some of those replacements were reputedly from the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

I am listening to the Dennis Prager show right now. He just played a tape from the concert, wherein the regular conductor, a violinist, played a SAW with a bow while Prager played an accordion and the rest of the orchestra played whatever they play, playing “America the Beautiful”. And the AUDIENCE started to sing the words to it! I admit, I had tears streaming down my face to hear this. All within the hall were united in participating in that song. Take THAT, you miserable libtard anal orifices who refused to play with the orchestra because Prager was conducting it. You missed a wonderful concert and a beautiful moment. I wish I could have been there. I definitely would have joined in the singing of “America the Beautiful”. Meanwhile, those 2 jerks who refused to play can go play for Lil’ Porky in North Korea. I’m sure they’ll get fabulous suites in one of his heinous prisons.

So now they are saying, you can’t conduct an orchestra or play in an orchestra, unless you are liberal?

It’s an endorsement of bigotry to be there with Dennis Prager???

This is where we are at ????

Our son took two of his great-grandpa’s saws with hand carved handles back to his band for playing. It’s an amazing sound.

I was concerned about this: for Dennis Prager, for the First Amendment, for the integrity of professional musicianship.

I can believe that other LAP players came through:

I once performed in Star Wars in Concert, twice each at two large arenas. The players were culled from the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Pops, and the Royal Philharmonic.

A fellow local veteran said, “These are the best players you will ever perform with in your life.”

She was right. They were spectacular. We local yokels were required to sign a three-page contract saying we would not fraternize with said players.

Ironically, they fraternized with us aplenty. They were relaxed (except when performing, when they were intense), professional, gracious, and appreciative. We even got a special thank-you email from the international conductor two weeks later. (To be honest, we were quite good.)

I don’t know their politics, and I don’t care. They only cared about the music. And their music was extraordinary.

This was one of two great highlights in my career. (The other: The Lord of the Rings in Concert.)

Here it is — there is a lot of chat and fooling around with the saw, and finally the music starts about halfway through the video:

Hmm. Wonder if the Nork fan Andrew Apter is a member of the Worker’s World Party?
