If Congress doesn’t fund Obamacare subsidies next month it could get pretty complicated

State health insurance regulators have been hoping for the best when it comes to 2018 exchange enrollment, but are now bracing for the worst-case scenario — that the fate of key health insurance subsidies will remain in limbo past key deadlines next month.

"We have a way to protect consumers, but it is complicated and will cause unnecessary confusion and anxiety," said Diana Dooley, chair of Covered California, the state's Obamacare exchange, in a statement Friday.

California officials say they will wait until the end of September to decide whether to let insurers impose a 12.8 percent surcharge on 2018 exchange premiums to account for the potential loss of cost-reduction subsidies that reduce out-of-pocket costs for low-income enrollees.

"We are extending our deadline to give Congress time to act when they return in September," Dooley explained. "We are heartened by the bipartisan discussion that put consumers first, but we can't wait past Sept. 30."

I believe the administration already announced they are continuing the subsidies next month.

ObamaCare can only exist as long as taxpayer money can subsidize it. That alone shows what a failure it is.

Forget about rearranging deck chairs. This is like putting Scotch tape over the hole the iceberg created when it hit the Titanic.

The best thing to do is let the system crash and force Congress and their staff to enroll in the same plans as everyone else.

“We are heartened by the bipartisan discussion that put consumers first”

If you want to put consumers first stop using the taxpayers money to pay for the NON taxpayers STUFF> It’s getting mighty old.

Let the Democrat Party, the Clintons, and Soros fund Obamacare. They were all for it, so let them pay till it hurts.

Defund, delay, deregulate, and abolish.

Indeed, Trump should have made Congress and the entire Federal Bureaucracy subject to all provisions of Obamacare on Jan. 20

Obamacare, medicaid, medicare, and the whole progressive-crony-capitalist, cost-pushing edifice can not be dismantled. It will only collapse, someday, when no one wants US Debt at 2% any longer

In the meantime, conservatives in government need to create an escape-hatch for citizens. Mainly, create simple laws that allow the free-market to grow among the massive dead wood of government. Give incentives for doctors to accept cash directly from patients. Allow citizens to opt out of all government medical schemes, and allow massive tax deductions for self-insurance.

DO NOT FUND!

That is all!

When Obamacare first passed, the argument for getting insurance companies involved is that they'd control costs. Instead, they paid off politicians to get subsidies so insurance rates could be kept high. And insurance, pharmaceutical, caregiver, and medical provider companies paid off pols to keep their profits intact.

So how is it paid for? Money from electronic "printing presses" counted as federal debt and annihilating the middle class with obscene insurance and medical costs.

Am I missing anything here?

New pricing for 2018 comes out Sept 30.

Trump is paying the bailout funds pending ObamaCare repeal and replace.

if there is no repeal and replace, Trump is going to cut the bailouts.

Insurers must price their coverage assuming there is not bailout.

The cost of a bailout free ObamCare premium is going to be eye watering.

Health care is enrolled on an annual basis in the month of October.

Trump could not do anything about Congresses policy until October of this year by rescinding the ObamaCare waiver they operate under.

September is going to be interesting

As terrible as the debt is, if the uncertainty helps kill Obamacare completely, I won’t mind even an extra $1T (far more than this will cost) added to the $20T burden Barack Hussein already left to our children and our grandchildren. Better a slightly more painful crippling debt than socialized medicine’s loss of freedom.

Is Fedzilla obligated by law to continue funding the subsidies? If so, until Congress changes the law, what is Trump supposed to do?
