Trader Joe’s has never seemed like a competitor to Whole Foods. I have never purchased any meat or produce at a Trader Joes, whereas that’s the main reason to go to Whole Foods.
Trader Joes seems like an overgrown wine specialty store to me. It’s fantastic at Christmas when you are constantly having guests and want to impress them with 19 varieties of crab stuffed mushrooms, but don’t actually want to cook.
I can’t imagine doing straight-up grocery shopping there.
I could imagine it at Whole Foods if I had a net worth in the tens of millions.
Sprouts is a really cool store.
I can’t handle Aldi. I’ve shopped their twice and it felt like I was eating rations in England in the 50s.
My local Whole Foods actually has a bar in the middle of it that serves the craft beers they sell. And it is PACKED on Fridays.
That’s good news.
The welfare people and the urban elites have been complaining about the price of their foie de gras, Russian caviar and free range praire dog steaks.
Our WF has a coffee bar, a huge area of what could be called a buffet area, a large sectional cafe area to take your food pay and eat. Mucho big wine and craft beer sections. Cheese out the ying yang. You have to take out a loan to shop there though.
Well TJ’s has what we need. We get away with $80 per week grocery shopping there. Lees than half of what Whole Paycheck would run us.
Who cares about prices. When it comes to food, you don’t spare any expense. You obtain the best quality food you can put in your stomach. Whole Foods has some of the best fish in town. I’ll appreciate the lower prices though.

We go to TJ’s during the holidays and for some of the birthday parties, we host for their good appetizers to serve with minimal hasssle.
Twice in this last decade, my wife had a couple of serious operations, and my incredible charcoaling didn’t work 7 days a week. I bought all types of frozen dinners, sea food and pasta dishes and stuff for two people. I, also, didn’t have time for a lot of shopping.
Then, I went to their frozen food section of two aisles and got the main courses and then went 25’ to their produce section for veggies, salad and fruit. I was in and out using their fast checkout lines in 10 to 15 minuts. I didn’t want to leave my wife very long.
We will be back for appetizers and quick to fix items starting in mid November to New Years. Then, they will not see us for months.

We know two couples from our church who use Blue Apron and like it. One couple is in their late 50/60’s and the other is in their 80’s!
Both women don’t like to shop for food anymore. The guys are not that good shopping fo produce/fruit selection nor meat/fish selection.
Both get the Blue Apron Box/bag 3 times a week. They have enough left overs for the next day. One wife still like to cook and gets a little creative with her Blue Apron meals. The other wife has hand and wrist problems so the guy does the prep, and he bitches about it.
They like the meals and feel that the service saves time and probably money. Not having to drive in our community and worry about parking becomes more of a factor every day. Which is why more of us use Amazon for our shopping. That will get more interesting with the Walmart/Google merger.
They will stay customers unless the prices get out of hand.
Yes, the wife and I are Blue Apron customers too. Phenomenal quality foods for the price. More than enough for the two of us for the week. On weekends, I do the barbecuing with grass fed beef and fresh fish.
The PC pasty ill looking hippies will have to find somewhere else to shop. We used to enjoy sitting in the parking lot watching the freaks who shopped there.
