Editors note: Writing in the Journal of Creation in 2015, Dr Kathy Wallace dealt at length with the risks of microchimerism, which is male DNA in womens bodies. More recently, science journal Nature published a paper on the same subject called Immunological implications of pregnancy-induced microchimerism. It is pleasing to report that it was a creationist scientist who first tackled such a deeply technical subject from a biblical perspective in our peer-reviewed journal.
Becoming one flesh
by Kathy Wallace
Women are at risk from sexual involvement with multiple partners. This can impact their health and increase the risk of miscarriage in pregnancy, low birth weight and dangerous diseases that have the potential to kill. Additionally, the intriguing, relatively recent discovery of DNA in the bodies of women, originating from the fathers of their children, has brought attention to an unsuspected biological closeness between a woman and her children, and between a mother and her spouse. This DNA, clearly distinct from the mothers, has been shown to persist in her body for decades after a pregnancy. Its presence not only may have health effects, but also exemplifies the deep biological union between a man and a woman, facilitated by the children they have together.

In Greek mythology, chimeras were fire-breathing monsters with lions heads, goats bodies, and serpents tailsi.e. an amalgam of biologically different organisms.
From the article:
“Implications for lesbians using donor sperm
This process of fetal microchimerism also has implications for lesbians using donor sperm to facilitate procreation. Presently, such women may be unaware that donor male DNA will be indelibly embedded within them, enshrined vestiges of the biological process resulting in children, that requires a man and a woman, as ordained by God. Scarnecchia has said:
The man whose embryo implants in a woman literally becomes one-flesh with her as fetal chimeric cells bearing his genetic heritage differentiate and colonize her organs and tissues, for better or worse, till death do they part. Because it has its causal origin in the sexual act, the fetal chimeric stem cells containing male DNA of its fathers lineage that differentiates into the tissues and organs of the mothers body signifies an on-going sexual penetration of the womans body by the paternal genetic heritage of the child.”
I love reading about microchimerism. Will post more later.
So I guess it was true that when Elizabeth Taylor stepped out of the shower, the first thing she would say is, “I feel like a new man.”
An interesting parallel to the spiritual reality.
First that it is in Adam that all have died. Even Eve.
Second that the gift of the Holy Spirit fundamentally changes the nature of the one whom has received Him, that even though the old body of death may still linger and (while mortality lasts) compete to demand our fidelity it will still be removed, at either physical death or in translation for those still mortal when Christ returns, and with that everything competing with the new nature, that of the new birth, will be gone, just a memory.
Hmm...

You mean there’s a cost to being a promiscuous slut who sleeps around and has babies by numerous men?
Breaking news.
We need this man.
Apparently there’s a cost to sleeping with men, regardless of the number. The DNA doesn’t know if you’re married or single.
Interesting what is revealed by science when it catches up to God’s instructions.
Great point, we are truly a “new creation”...
Yeah, I guess it's similar to knowing that binge drinking will kill you. It doesn't take a PhD in biochemistry to know that, but the PhD will be able to explain the influence of the exact chemical pathways.
I am amazed that God's intricate DESIGN is both genius AND exquisite.
PS the vacuum dog GIF popped up on a search for “Captain Obvious”.
When you think about it, it makes sense.
The male DNA is to desensitize the mother's immune system so it won't attack the fetus in the womb.
There is no need for female DNA, it would be identical to the mother's, right?
I could so nail being a doctor, it's so easy...
That is wrong. Microchimerism is the presence is anyone's body of cells from another individual.
"In humans ... the most common form is fetomaternal microchimerism (also known as fetal cell microchimerism or fetal chimerism) whereby cells from a fetus pass through the placenta and establish cell lineages within the mother. ...
After giving birth, about 5075% of women carry fetal immune cell lines. Maternal immune cells are also found in the offspring" - Wikipedia
Interesting post. A little heavy on the religion and trying to use it as scripture defense, but still some powerful arguments and things to think about.
Sex is suppose to be special and part of a committed marriage or long term relationship. The concepts of promiscuous sex do pose risks and have physical consequences.
To refine this idea further; Fellowship with the Lord in the matter of fruit-bearing results in the divine dispensing (into us) restoring us, supplying us enabling us to nurture spiritual offspring in life and growth. The more intimate we are with Christ, the more of Christ we assimilate and the more like Him we become, making us capable of producing spiritual offspring. Furthermore, when we have conceived and are bearing spiritual fruit, we share in the increase and growth of Christ in the new believer.
Everything positive in the universe is a shadow of Christ.
Half of the nuclear DNA of any child comes from the father, so a female embryo would seem to pose as much danger as a male embryo. (The mitochondrial DNA in the baby would be identical to the mother’s whether the baby was male or female.)
